Ochil 2000s hill race.
SHR and SAC champs race, 48th of 133 finishers. Moved through nicely from 65th at Kings Seat and particularly from 58th at the penultimate summit, Colsnaur Hill.

Only previous time I had done this was in 2008 (in fact my completion that day of such a long race persuaded me that perhaps now was the time to consider entering a first marathon...).
Pat and Ben both ran that day - bizarrely none of us had done it since, but this year all three of us had (undiscussed) entered again!

Different route these days between Blairdenon and Dumyat, right down to Menstrie and back up rather than via Jerah. Makes the course about 15-20mins longer so pretty pleased to be only 8mins longer than 2008 considering today was a strong headwind, and that I am ten years older!

Nervous times struggling up Dumyat, I was keeping pace with the two people I had been with for a while, but could see Jethro behind was reeling me in (had seen him behind on a few of the dogleg summit checkpoints). He was only 34secs behind at the top but luckily this year I had enough left to descend well - plus it wasn't exactly a hindrance to know the best lines down to the University!
