Up near Fort William and weather looking decent, so we headed for the Easain ridge from Fersit on the Laggan road. I have been defeated there twice previously (first time blown back a few hundred metres from the summit, second time never left the car in foul weather), but surely today was the day....
....except actually it wasn't! Nasty car accident meant the A86 was closed at Spean Bridge and so this time I didn't even get as far as parking at the start of the walk, each failure to ascend is a miss by more!
Instead we headed back and up Glen Nevis, and ended up with a great day in the Mamores. Parked at Achriabhach and walked up Coire a' Mhusgain to the col between Stob Ban and Sgurr an Iubhair, then headed east up the latter (one of that rare breed, an ex-Munro!). From there it was northwards over Devil's Ridge to Sgurr a' Mhaim (met two people on the ridge doing a recce for the Ring of Steall race), and then a brutally steep 1000m descent off to the north west back to the car. This was Munro 160 for me, I think (recount possibly needed).
Generally we had awesome views in all directions (even the Ben deigning to be free of cloud at times), just a brief section of clag for the last part of the ridge and final pull up to Sgurr a' Mhaim, plus the first part of the descent.
Probably a better day out than the original plan, the elusive Easain ridge will have to wait a bit longer!
