Lappee-Jukola, wet windy muddy!

Leg two, moonlighting for the Clyde team.
12.9km, think that counts as the long gaffle when the leg is listed as 12.6k-12.9k :)
So 125 mins is at least safely under 10mins/km, although under 115 would have been more acceptable...

Set off just inside the top 400 courtesy of strong first leg from Arnis. Mostly a pretty average run with far too much pinball around the gaffles, turned from average to poor near the end with a horror 5min+ error on a short leg.

There didn't seem to be a pleasant route to #1 but found the route over the plateau which gave some nice running after the initial bashing through the bushy green. All alone from 1min after start kite until the road 10mins later, very very disconcerting! Partly because of that, could have been quicker down the ride off the hill but hesitant as I couldn't believe there wasn't a trod down it and so that plus being alone made me v worried I was somehow in the wrong place....

Comedy minute or so of stumble-trip just after #3, fell over twice, then jumped down a rock and landed painfully on a sharp one, then scratched my eye in the green, then banged my head and knocked my torch off. This may or may not have been why I had no idea what was going on on exiting the marsh and mistook the ride for the track, direction seemed wrong but everyone was going the same way - obviously to a different gaffle! Sucked in to the wrong one at #5 too but knew I was left so corrected quickly.

Stopped short at #9 at a wrong control, thought I needed to contour but was slightly low, very bushy there so hesitant in climbing up to the correct place, no-one there when I found it so guessing many found it tricky!

Stupid at #12, thought I had gone round the end of the cliff but had gone up the gap instead, pushing a bit hard ahead of run through so missed and then pressed on further wrong instead of relocating properly.

Left at #16 and too low heading back towards flag, cost more time then it should, very bushy and green below the control.

Pleased with the tricky #19, others bashing straight from the track but did my own thing and spiked it all alone. But then far too aggressive to #21, thought I had overrun it to the right and tried to bounce off the boulder and crags, but was at the other boulder and crags further right. A bit misty there too and got a bit disorientated and unsure, again all alone and took a while to sort things out. 5mins and 100 places lost!

Okay from there to the finish, glad to get there by the end.

Team finished 790th, just in the top half of those starting - pretty good outcome for us I think. Maybe not the trickiest Jukola in terms of route finding, quite a lot of low-vis bushy terrain though and I thought quite tricky in places in/around the circle. With a couple of the errors I made, maybe I have to think that!

Potter round the Jukola model map in the drizzle. Stopped for a chat with Andy P then moved on hastily once the mosquitos spotted us. Then down into the arena to watch the last part of the final leg of Venla, congrats Halden and Hollie!
