My leg of the
http://www.endurancelife.com/realrelay, took over from Rosco in Plean and handed to John Stevenson in Cumbernauld.
Got quite into it beforehand by intercepting Ross at various Stirling historic sites for photo opportunities, and really enjoyed my leg - really enjoyed planning a route beforehand too and coming up with something that was not just a run along main roads.
Thanks to Elle and MC in particular for being fab supporters and meeting me multiple times along the way, and even running a little bit along the Antonine Wall with me.
Took over from Ross at the War Memorial in Plean and headed through Plean Country Park and past the ruined old estate house, across to cross the River Carron and then motorway at Dunipace/Denny, and down between Little Denny and Drumbowie reservoirs for a fleeting visit to the Forth/Clyde canal and then a fun if muddy section along the Antonine Wall (next to the aviation hub that is Cumbernauld Airport!).
From there tracked down the historic Roman altar that is the Carrick Stone (in the midst of a new housing estate and next to one of Scotland's less dramatic trig points). Through Cumbernauld Community Park and then (with only one navigation fail..) found my way through the multiple walkways and footbridges of Cumbernauld to hand over to John.
Quite a few stops for various reasons - quite ready to stop for the final time by the end! A great morning's outing in support of a great idea - just sorry I had to go to work afterwards....
