Running 42:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Ghost 2011

Slippery slippery trot round Leckie, snowing pretty hard for the second half. Not sure why I thought trainers were the best choice of footwear.

Orienteering race 54:20 [5] 9.72 km (5:35 / km) +200m 5:04 / km
shoes: new Inov8 Roclite

FVO night race, Dunblane. Minging night again but at least the flooding hadn't quite reached any of the controls....

Didn't quite have the pace off the start to keep with the front group of Forest, Rosco and Rog - and once I took a v dodgy route down to #3 at the start of the butterflies then found myself down in mid field somewhere. Got back up to the back of a group with Hollie, Helen B and Patrick as we headed off Laigh Hills into the urban section, caught them at #11 then took a duff route to #12 and made it even slower with a huge slide and fall across some grass, covering self and map in mud.

Gradually did the catching up thing again up the big hill to the second butterflies (where we all then had the same gaffle anyway), but hadn't cleaned my map well enough and tried to go 14-16 as #15 was covered in mud (I wondered where Helen was going....).

Just ahead of Patrick after that but failing to catch the girls up ahead and they were out of sight heading back down into the urban to #22. Dropped Patrick on run down to #22 then different route to #23. Saw Helen maybe 30-40s ahead exiting #23 and then some lights exiting the penultimate at #25 - turned out to be not Helen, but Hollie and (to my surprise) Rog. Took the opposite route from them to #26, got to the control circle courtyard first but blew it by going to the far left corner not the middle left corner (makes sense on the map) - still faffing as they arrived and was a poor third in the rush from there to the finish.

Forest won in some ridiculous time (if only he ran as well in the big races as the Wednesday night races then he would be a force to reckon with!), Rosco sprained his ankle early, so (a long way) behind Forest it was Helen-Rog-Hollie-me-Patrick.

6.9km straight line and 9.72km on my route - 26 controls and lots of climb and mud so 54mins represents quite a hard run! Great fun too and explored a lot of Dunblane I don't really know - thanks Dixie!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: new Inov8 Roclite

Jog and knee lifts trying to get my hip and back working beforehand.
Jog to the start.
Shuffle with Rog and Patrick afterwards trying to stop my hip stifffening up...

Pilates 40:00 [2]

Grateful as ever to the ailing Lard for taking the session - even if I was suffering big time after running in terrain yesterday....

Circuits 30:00 [2]

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Had to use half the stations for stretching rather tha n the intended exercise. Ouch.
