Surprisingly we decided not to do the Skiddaw Race this morning after all. A decision only partly driven by the howling wind and lashing rain....
Instead we battled our way up High Pike from the bunkbarn, good for sharpening the senses!
Not entirely surprised to find that the Skiddaw race was shortened for safety with the turn point being moved lower down than the summit, must have been wild up there!
To the top of Pen-y-Ghent and the last bit of the descent, some people seemed to be in major need of the fresh air......

Set off running down from the summit with Ben. Got dropped once it got a bit rocky and technical.
We got half way down and turned round, ran back up to the others, then decided to keep going to the summit.
Set off back down from the summit again until we got back to the others. Got dropped by Ben again in the exact same place as before.

More stag weekend fun, at Long Churn caves up from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, relieved that even after recent excesses I could somehow squeeze myself through the Cheese Press (3m long and only 25cm high!).

And glands still up. Looking forward already to getting up for the red eye to Heathrow in the morning.....
Disciplined training doesn't need to restart until Monday it seems. So Abi says anyway....
Surprisingly, despite a mix of laziness/injury/laziness/illness in May/June, only 2 hours down on averaging an hour per day in the first half of the year. Although the Snowdon race in just over three weeks is not seeming quite such a good idea as it did a few months ago when I entered!
