Running 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8

Surprise View to Stanage Pole and back, despite two days off felt pretty sluggish and heavy-legged. Could have gone faster but not at all inspired to do so, just not feeling like I would have expected - right hamstring sore and tight which didn't help.

Had to keep reminding myself that it was only a couple of weeks ago that I was running well at Dumyat Hill Race and then was strong at the Harvester so it is not like I am suddenly unfit - maybe a bit short of sleep and run down over the past fortnight so an easy week this week will hopefully sort things out....it had better!

(rest day)

Nice sunny day in the Peak District.

Observed this on my way from Sheffield to meeting in BOF office in the afternoon.

Meeting overran.

Observed it again on my way back to Sheffield in the early evening.

Didn't have time for a run. Not happy!

Running 53:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline Jan 2008

First of all I was doing the Clydebank 10km today. Didn't seem like a very good idea by the afternoon so didn't go.

Second plan was to run up one of the Gargunnock hills. That didn't happen either.

Third time lucky, went to play golf at Stirling Uni. To play really badly as it turned out. Rosco on the other hand had clearly played before. Fraser may actually have some competition for the title of FVO golf champion this year!

And the evening sunshine was so nice that after golf a run featured after all, went for a tootle up to the top of Dumyat and back via Logie Kirk. Awesome mountain views, well worth it. Felt a bit better than yesterday too, stomach still not quite right but don't think it is anything much, sure it will be fine in a day or two.

Running race 37:35 [5] 8.0 km (4:42 / km) +210m 4:09 / km
shoes: Inov8

Knock of Crieff hill race, on a right gloomy day, big contrast with the last few days, in cloud at the top and everything.

Had being planning to use the Minewoods evening event as a warmup but feeling not quite right so gave it a miss - had worked from home all day for the same reason. This was perhaps a big clue that I might not feel at my best in the race!

Felt dodgy on the way to the start but okay after more of a warmup, set off okay and managed to avoid following Fraser into the start-too-fast trap. He seemed to be coming back towards me half way up the climb, but when i need to start to dig in a bit, instead I felt ropey again and started going back throught the field fairly quickly. Lard went straight past and off in pursuit of Fraser - they were quickly out of sight, and it was not all down to the low visibility!

Took it a bit easier round the middle section - only a small race so only lost one more place here - then looked back before the final climb to see Sprint Finish King, Doug Flint, closing fast. Made myself run the climb and didn't feel too bad, kept it going okay to the finish without letting Doug get within sprint finish distance.

Finished 2 mins behind Lard and Fraser - disappointing as I would have hoped to be in a good race with them on a better day. 6 mins behind Rosco who was a good 2nd overall.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8

Warm up to start and checking out the first (steep!) section on the road, warm down feeling pretty dire.

Running 1:10:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline Jan 2008

Pleasant run from the Uni up to the fort near Dumyat with Elle, Ali, and Rosco. Quite warm but pretty windy on top so didn't loiter enjoying the view fo long. Met Gary on the way down and headed back via Sherrifmuir Road.

Still tired legs but loosened off okay after a while - it is supposed to be a hard week but I think the Knock of Crieff race on Wednesday could be a bit of a struggle. Not to mention the Clydebank 10km the day after....

Running 1:08:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline Jan 2008

Pleasant easy run in the sun with Rosco from Gargunnock.

Tried to check out a couple of previously unexplored paths but were deterred by a chainsaw the first time and a rifle the second time.

Looking forward to welcoming FVO for an evening run here soon....
