Orienteering race (FCC Long) 1:23:31 [5] 12.3 km (6:47 / km) +355m 5:56 / km

Much better race
Started off well. Lost direction on no 6 but was running well at the spectator. Lost time on no11. Went too high and didn't keep an eye on the comapss. Lost ~1.5mins. Was OK through to 13 but failed to see depression on map (which had a different control in). Eventually came back to depression and relocated but 2.5 mins lost. Hector caught me up here and I managed to stay with him thorugh to 21. Tried to push it along the paths to keep up with him. Kept steady thorugh to 24 but got distacted on 25 going to the wrong control; lost another min. Was then with Calum Coombs through to the finish.

Orienteering race (FCC Middle) 40:30 [5] **** 4.7 km (8:37 / km) +215m 7:01 / km
shoes: Walsh PB trainer new

Pretty disappointing race.
Started off pretty well with just a few hesitations in the first tricky loop. Muffed up no 6 losing direction in the green. 1 min loss. Then got really confused with the mapping around no 7; couldn't fit the ground to map at all. 1.5 mins lost. Caught Ed Louth at this point. Poor route choice + got confused with the vegetation at 11. Found 12 first; 2.5 mins lost. Dave Schorah caught me and Ed here. Only other proper mistake was 20 where the mapping of the vegetation was awful. Wasn't sure which clearing I was in and messed around losing another 1min20.

Adding up my large mistakes comes to over 6 mins and was about 6 mins down so looks as if most people had quite a few errors.

Steady jog up to the rec and back before work. First time I've run in the rain for ages; was actually really nice.
