Orienteering race (British Relays) 40:42 [5] ***** 6.6 km (6:10 / km) +150m 5:32 / km

Men's Premier 1st leg
Really good run. Was near the front at the start but lost a bit of time on number 5. Top runners were getting away on the longer legs but luckily kept within sight so could see them exiting the controls. Managed to find loads of controls in the green but relocated well. Was running really well chasing Doug and Craney across to number 15. Was 2nd back, 2 secs down on the lead.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Ran back to the car because the shoes felt like they were rubbing so went to get some others. Turned out the car was locked so just ran back. Turned into quite a good warm up.

Orienteering race (British Champs Long) 59:12 [5] ***** 8.8 km (6:44 / km) +200m 6:02 / km
shoes: Walsh PB trainer new

Pretty poor race.
Spiked number 1 then rushed number 2 and was looking on the wrong side of a hill. Took over 3 mins on a 150m leg!!!!! Was going well through to 7 but cocked up number 8 by 2 mins. I still don't understand why they map some thickets and not others!!! Consequently mucked up 9. From then on was pretty steady although lost line on number 16. Took it easy in the green at the end as wasn't going to lose more time due to stupid errors!!!!

Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [2]
shoes: Walsh PB trainer new

Longer warm up than usual because the 1km to the start only took 5mins!
