Sunday Jul 20

Running (easy) 38:00 [3]
shoes: Merrells
Fi and I went for an easy loosener type run from the school out and back along a wee track. We got soaked.

Saturday Jul 19

Note
(rest day)
Travelling up to Salen for the greatest orienteering competition in the world - the Oringen. On the way we travelled through some really really beautiful terrain but when we got to our destination it looked a bit grotty to be honest. Hmm.

Friday Jul 18

Orienteering 40:00 [3]
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
Tour Champs classic on Iddy. Collected a few controls afterwards. Probably the best of some really great terrain this week.
Note
Was delighted to finish joint first with Oleg on the Coach leaderboard. The results were not fiddled in any way;)

Thursday Jul 17

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]*****
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
During the tour champs sprint I decided to go and check out the terrain for the long race I was planning for tomorrow. Awesome area. Would probably be impossible to plan a bad course.
Orienteering race (middle) 34:00 [5]****
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
Tour champs middle. I had a wee run out on this one after putting out a few flags. Was a really good tough course. Felt pretty competent although a wee bit scrappy in the circle. Spongey was a minute faster with Oleg on something silly like 29. Happy to be ahead of everyone else:)
Swimming 15:00 [3]
Swimming in some more chilly water. A couple of jumps off boards too.

Wednesday Jul 16

Note
(rest day)
Running race (time trial) 2:24 [5]0.84 km (2:51 / km)
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
The big day for the TT - well rested after coffee and ice-cream in Halden in the morning. I dusted off the running vest/shorts and Oleg set a blistering pace at 2.26. I then taught him a lesson he ain't never gonna forget (or something) with a very nice 2.24. Neither of us really felt we would do it much faster that week so kind of lost interest after that....
Fitba (Marsh) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
Had heard a lot about the marsh football but to be honest hadn't really seen the attraction. But it was really great fun. Brilliant laugh. Would recommend it as it is so silly.
Orienteering (3 arm race) 10:00 [3]
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
3 arm race.
Orienteering race (night relay) 10:00 [4]***
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
a wee night relay. Had a bit too much to do after Ross was sent out on the long course v everyone else on the short. Did manage to pull us up from last though.
Swimming 15:00 [3]
A wee swim/wash after the marsh football. Water was a bit chilly.

Tuesday Jul 15

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]****
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
am route choice pm control pick/line.

Was really getting into putting the controls out on the control pick. This, of course, meant I put one in the wrong place. Oh well, it was bound to happen at some point. -5 coaching points though gutted.
Running race (time trial) 2:36 [5]
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox

Monday Jul 14

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]****
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
Long legs am, peg relay pm. Great spectating from the tower. I ran about a bit and collected some flags. Minor panic when Jane's car refused to start. After some serious attempts to flood the engine etc Oleg remember about the immobiliser.....
Running race (time trial) 2:36 [5]0.84 km (3:06 / km)
shoes: Integrator Silver Fox
