Easy Run 45:00 [3]

Run with Mr Northrop. It was light enough to run through the cemetery tonight, turn up for the books.

Orienteering race (BUSA relay) 48:58 [5] 6.5 km (7:32 / km)

Ran second leg for the men of steel. Douglas "dispels the myth that you have to be lightning to be good at first leg" Tullie came back first a bit ahead of Coombs. I was planning for a hard chase and wasn't really expecting to see Coombs but just maintain or shorten the gap. Caught him at one looking for a pit then we had a llittle battle until he had a slightly shorter gaffle and got away. I nearly caught him back up on one of the climbs but never quite got on his tail. Was cautious round the last loop making sure no mistakes and right descriptions which meant i lost time to Coombs but i was confident that it wouldn't be a huge lead. James looked uncatchable through the spectators and had increased his lead on Markus but Edinburgh started their celebrations too early. Markus caught James after a mistake and passed him after another.

I think most people were surprised by the quality of the weekend, great little areas, good courses, good social - Sheffield mate.

Easy Run 15:00 [2]

Warm up then finding my watch that broke after i fell over in the warm down.

Orienteering 10:00 [1]

After waiting for people to finish (a long time) i collected in some controls again. I was given 9 controls all close together but jogging back up that hill one more time i realised how wrecked i was. 9 controls seemed like a ton heavier than 8 yesterday.

Event: BUSA

Orienteering 1:08:35 [5] 8.9 km (7:42 / km) +475m 6:05 / km

BUSA individual. I felt pretty strong and didn't make any mistakes of note (only small Thierry mistakes but everyone needs to iron out those). Looking at splitsbrowser i was probably too cautious with route choice through the butterfly and lost a lot of time through there. Should have pushed it harder on the moor and been less conservative but i'm happy with it as a start to the racing season. Hector had a great run although he'll tell you he didnt' ;-).

Easy Run 20:00 [2]

Warm up and down.

Orienteering (control collecting) 30:00 [3]

Had volunteered to help with control collecting beforehand, it beats sitting at a start shouting people's names out. Said i didn't mind going out to the far ones in the butterfly, it was good to go and do it again, tried some different routes and saw where i lost some of the time. Felt hardcore running back with 8 controls on my shoulder for 2km.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

ShUOC training on Loxley. Got a full minibus plus a car again which is good to see. Andy had planned two courses one 4.5km control pick with 32 controls and no paths on the map which was fun and a 6km course. Did the control pick and collected in some of the long course only to find out i had to go back for four more controls. Feeling a bit leggy today but that could have been the wind, used the Minna Kaupi technique when running into wind for some extra training.

Track Session 24:00 [4]

5x1500m off 5:55. The first rep was in a monsoon and the rest were windy but i felt quite strong. Disappointed with third rep but glad i got the five in. 4.55, 5.00, 5.04, 5.00, 5.00.

Easy Run 47:00 [3]

Run to track in world record time realised on the way back that this was due to an illegal tail wind. Strides and then run back.
