Run (roads) 1:35:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 roclite 315, size 11

From downtown SLC up City Creek Canyon. Lots of fresh snow and a bit icy so took it easy. Did try venturing off the tarmac a wee bit, though, but it was hard going. Lots of interesting tracks in the snow. A sign said to beware of bears, cougars, moose and rattlesnakes - quite an impressive list for being a couple of miles from the centre of town!

XC ski (classic) 30:00 [1]

A warm up on classic skis around the 5 km loop at White Pines.

XC ski (skate) 1:30:00 [3]

Took a skate lesson, which was very helpful, then kept going for another two laps of the 5 km loop. I'm obviously still doing something wrong as every 100 m I have to stop and gasp down air as everyone else cruises effortlessly past. A fun time in fresh, fluffy snow, though.

XC ski (classic) 1:45:00 [1]

From Park City along the Rail Trail, then around the outer edge of the Round Valley trails. Rolling hills in desert/sagebrush. All a bit tough on classic skis as the trails were wide and hard, so slipping around a bit. Lots of folks skating. The highest parts were beautiful, and not too busy. Was very surprised to come around a corner and meet a couple of moose. Didn't even know they lived in Utah, never mind out in the sagebrush. They didn't seem to want to move off the trail so I ended up taking the skis off and stomping through the brush around them. Out for about 3 and a half hours, though not going too quick, but finished completely spent.
