Swim race 15:00 [1]
The Craggy Island Tri started with a 550m swim across the Sound of Kerrera. Was a bit unsure how this would be, but really enjoyed it. Breaststroke all the way! Was quite happy to be nowhere near last out of the water.
Mountain bike race 40:00 [3]
Things didn't start too well, with appalling cramp while changing into the bike gear, then off up the hill. A really strange feeling - body not working quite right, ears full of water so balance a bit wobbly, and wanting to puke from the salt water. Got into it, though and the biggest problem was getting around people. Some nice technical bits and great views around the coastline by the castle.
Run (off-road) race 26:00 [4]
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw o330, sz 10.5
Got through transition as fast as possible to escape the BBC interviewer. Was looking forward to something a bit more familiar with the run (just 4 km up and over the Kerrera trig). It was tough, though. Quite tired by now. Struggled on the last steep climb, but then a leg-stretching romp down to the finish at Gylen. What a superb event. Really enjoyed it and hope they run it again next year.
