Hike 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Inov8 roclite 315, size 11

Bla Bheinn (Skye). Up the south ridge and down a rather sketchy, snowy route to the east. A long day at an easy pace with John, Jo and Nicola. Superb views of the Cuillin. Dobs were a good substitute for crampons on the icy scramble to the summit.

Beinn na Caillich on Skye. Mostly not a run, but climbing fairly hard up the steep face then jogging the ridge line to Beinn Dearg Mhor and Beag (about 2 and a half hours in all). A fun trip, especially down the ridge from Beinn na Caillich where I scared up an all-white ptarmigan from the edge of one of the snow patches.

Set off for a bike ride with Tom but my front wheel exploded as the rim collapsed. Ooops. So went for a run instead - south on the road from Ord, then around the coast, exploring a castle that I came across (Dunscaith Castle as I later learnt). There wasn't much left of it, but it had an interesting entry bridge across a tidal gully. The floor had collapsed, but you could edge across a ledge and out onto the bump that was the castle proper. Continued around the coast to Ord on sheep paths. Rough but fun.

Sad that the Skipwith event was cancelled, so went for a leg stretch around Beckett Park before the long drive up to Oban. Still a bit icy.
