Event: SOL 7

Orienteering race 1:49:25 [4] ***
27c shoes: Inov8 mudclaw o 330, sz 10

SHI individual. 11.5km M21E. An elite course at Craig a Barns sounded a bit scary, but had an OK day - stuck it out to the end, though was practically crawling by then. Technically, didn't seem to stick well to a line, but that may just be the terrain. It was full-on challenging physical/technical orienteering. Only a few mins errors though, and a minute or so when I lost my SI card. Surprised to be only 20 mins down. Wish I could have pushed a bit harder.

Orienteering race 44:05 [4] ***
20c shoes: Inov8 mudclaw o 330, sz 10

SHI relay at Dalnamein. 6.7 km. First leg in a Welsh team with Kristian+ Matt. It was a wet and chilly day, so a bit hard to get motivated, but once off it was a very enjoyable. A nice little forest with a foray out into a complex open area. The pace was out of my league, but I managed to keep Mark and Niall in sight as I clung on at the back, sneaking past Niall when he made a mistake at the end. A good clean run and running well.

Orienteering 50:00 [2]

Skipped work early to take a look around the top of Ardchattan (from Glen Salach) for the event next month. What a great area! Had a splendid time up there, despite the howling wind and hail. Quite technical with lots of boulders. Most of them were of the 'to map or not to map' size, so tricky picking out the mapped ones. It wasn't even too wet up there, despite days of torrential rain! A good warm-up for the weekend.

Tuesday intervals. Short, steep hills today, up Corran Brae. Taking it easy as getting over a cold.

Warm-up before and warm-down after, with a couple of Jacobs Ladders for good measure.
