Orienteering race 27:45 [4] ***
11c

Ecko event at Lochgoilhead. Green - 2.7km (220m climb). A great setting for an event, at the head of the loch with snowy mountains around. Nowhere much to go but up! It was a fun little course, scrambling around on the moutainside. Tricky at times too.

Orienteering 12:00 [2] *
16c

Jog around the yellow, in town.

Mountain bike 40:00 [1]

From Lochgoilhead to Corran Lochan and back. A nice, hard-packed single track around the valley side, through various types of forest and past raging waterfalls. Turrned back when the weather turned foul (horizontal sleet), just short of the Lochan. There's a loop around the whole peninsula, which would be fun to ride some day.

Run (off-road) 28:00 [2]

Ran to the top of the highest forest road I could find near Oban (it was in Glen Salach, and reached a mere 270m) to see if there was skiable snow. It was about an inch thick - icy with rocks. Fox and deer tracks. Ravens cronking overhead.

XC ski (backcountry) 15:00 [1]

Scrambled up the soggy mountainside above the forest to a plateau where there was enough snow to ski. Tromped around a bit, failed a few teleturns, and retreated as a huge black cloud approached. It felt good. The first of many Scottish ski trips!

Run (off-road) 1:05:00 [3]

With Tim in Sutherland's Grove. Not knowing my way around there yet, it was quite a mystery tour for a cold, snowy night. It felt a lot like running in Mac Forest in the dark.

Run (off-road) 32:00 [2]

Lunchtime from lab. A bit more inland this time. Tussocky and soggy, but rather fun.
