Orienteering race 53:55 [4] ***
17c
Harvester Relay, near Hawick in the Borders. Leg 3, 8km (hilly, 295m) (night) in 53:55. AIRE ran well, finishing 5th, and in contention for the places (2nd after leg 5). The terrain was fast, sheep-grazed hills, moderately technical in places and good for night-O. Pretty happy with my run, with just one error of 2+ mins and a few smaller bobbles. It was great being up on the hills in the dark. Physically, not feeling too zippy, but that was expected. The organisation of the event was great, but unfortunately the social/spectator side suffered from the worst midges I've ever experienced. Bring on Jukola!
