Orienteering race 1:26:00 [4] ***

Concord Chase (Nat event 1 and S. Champs). M21L, 12.9km in 86 min (11th of 43, 16 mins down). A pretty good run in a fun area. It reminded me a bit of the midwest. It was quite a busy map at 15000, with many rides/paths and vegetation details. The woods were mostly fast, but at times holly was tough to get through. Not really technical, but you had to concentrate. Just made a few little bobbles.
The course featured one of the most amazing controls I've ever been to. No 19 was some sort of micro clearing. A pretty easy control, but the block of forest it was in was absolutely as black as night. I skirted it with trepidation, wishing I had my headlight, then just dove in anyway. It was totally runnable, but the canopy was so dense almost no light got through. Fortunately the control stood out pretty well.
