Too many leftover chocs and biscuits in January and not enough exercise = fat Brad

Orienteering race 20:32 intensity: (10 @0) + (11 @1) + (55 @2) + (3:51 @3) + (15:01 @4) + (24 @5) *** 3.91 km (5:15 / km) +45m 4:58 / km
ahr:152 max:163 (injured) shoes: Hoka Mafate 4

SOUL 1 / ESOC Sprint-O / Scottish Sprint Orienteering Champs at North Uphall. Or, in my case, the Scottish Jog O Champs, as I was just jogging around very tentatively trying not to hurt my knee. Knee lift? Knee drag, more like. Succeeded in the slow pace / no injury goal, but failed in the "clean navigation" goal, as I got confused 2 controls from the end when the line from #17-#18 crossed the line from #6-#7 and I dumped 80s on a 20 second control. Idiot!
Thankfully Jamie upheld the family honour and totally smashed his race, winning the M12 class by nearly two minutes. Impressed Dad. TRIMP 49.1.

Orienteering 18:29 intensity: (20 @0) + (21 @1) + (34 @2) + (34 @3) + (8:35 @4) + (8:05 @5) *** 3.49 km (5:18 / km) +28m 5:06 / km
ahr:159 max:179 (injured) shoes: Hoka Mafate 4

Race 2 of the SOUL / ESOC Sprint Champs, on South Uphall. Encouraged by the lack of knee implosion in race 1, I tried a little harder in this race, although I'd still just have called it a jog - and as a result was only 2 minutes down, not 5. Really (really!) chuffed to not have beggared my knee today. Think I'll have to stay off terrain for a bit, though.
Jamie smashed it again, winning the course by >30s despite a 30s error. Time to hand over the family compass, I think. TRIMP 51.4.

FVO club activity day run from Cambusbarron. Meant to be an easy tootle so as not to take anything out of my legs prior to the Scottish Night Champs tonight, and it was that - nice and easy. Unfortunately my right knee started to hurt after 35-40 minutes, and by the end it was clear that I wasn't going to be running tonight after all. Stupid thing. It feels as if I've wrenched the ligaments somehow. Really disappointed not to be able to night O tonight and not sure how to get it fixed before the British Nights in just three weekends' time, given that I'm away for a week in the middle. Bums.

Running (Trail) 50:18 intensity: (8 @0) + (10 @1) + (8 @2) + (4:40 @3) + (44:50 @4) + (22 @5) 10.48 km (4:48 / km) +36m 4:43 / km
ahr:155 max:164 shoes: Hoka Speedgoat 2

Some days you feel like a runner, other days you feel like a spud. Today I was being careful to avoid anyone who might have a peeler in their pocket. Trudge, trudge.
Splotty, muddy trails today. My Speedgoats have been great but the lugs are well worn, and were pretty useless on the "past the henhouses" segment; staying upright was a challenge, forward progress a bonus.
My right knee, which I twisted at the school running club last Thursday, was pretty sore from about the 6-7km mark; might be more going on there than I thought. Out with the Voltarol. TRIMP 129.2.
