Drove to the end of Stubaital and took the cable cars up to the bottom of the glacier, then - after a wee explore inside the glacier - walked back down. The upper cols were utterly blasted by the skiing industry, but the lower section was lovely and we even saw a chamois. Unfortunately we got caught out in a thunderstorm and had to hide under a very large rock (with sheep for company) before dashing to the Brenner Hut for some hot chocolate before continuing on down. Soggy.

O: long, San Martin di Castrozza. M45L: 5.7km +400m. And I thought it was tough yesterday! Best run of the week for me - only the one (3 minute) stuff up at #1, which was in the only grotty bit of the area. Otherwise it was tough but great fun, and on another glorious day. Fabby end to the event. TRIMP 134.9.

O: long, Passo Rolle. M45L: 6km +300m. Awesome and hard as nails. Wow, what an area! Tough stuff but loved it. Unfortunately being Mr Consistent, with a good run being marred by one (or, in this case, two) big errors. 8 mins lost today. Oh well, it was ace. Shame Doug cracked his elbow :-(. TRIMP 146.6.

O: Middle, Val Venegia. M45L: 4.4km. The usual one big mistake! Cracking middle distance race in the most stunning venue. Alas, I threw the race away with a 5 minute error on #1, a random rock on a steep hillside - stopped too early and lost confidence. Only lost a couple of minutes over the whole of the rest of the course. Unfortunately on the run in I got budged into the sticky - out part of a log fence and took a heavy tumble onto my hip. Why would anyone do that? Stiffened up badly by the evening. Oh well. Might be doing a lot of walking tomorrow anyway, it looks mental. TRIMP 94.8.

O: Sprint. Day 2 - Siror & Tonadico. M45L.
Moving better today but ran past #2 (45s lost) and had total brain fade at #15 - 2m30 on a 25s leg! A few other wee errors added up to mar a mostly decent effort. Oh well. Apart from the dead running between the villages, it was really lovely to be charging around the narrow streets. TRIMP 66.2.

Wee walk in Van Canali, in a thunderstorm (eek)
I needed a wee stroll to mobilise my back and knee after the morning's tarmac excursion, but couldn't tempt anyone else out, so headed out for this 3hr walk up a picturesque valley to visit Refugio Treviso. Except it wasn't a 3hr walk, it was a 1h30 walk. Got a bit soggy when a couple of thunderstorms rolled in, but avoided electrocution. Surprised to find a car load of semi naked Stansfields parked next to me when I finished - they'd gone for a dip up the same valley! Birds of a feather, and all that

O: Sprint. Dolomiti 2-day, Transacqua
M45 3.5km. Legs stale, but would still have been have been an OK run bar the 2 minutes lost on just two controls! Went back to check the 45s one and I think it was a map error, but the second, 1m30s, error, when I ran around the wrong side of the building only to be trapped and have to go all the way back around it, was just bad map reading. D'oh!

Oh well. Running around a gorgeous wee Italian village on a sunny day, with good chat from the FVO contingent and the promise of beer in the sunshine afterwards - what's not to like? TRIMP 52.

Late start for a cable car to the Rosetta station, on the Dolomite plateau high above San Martino di Castrozza. Not much of a walk, due to constant complaints from Eilidh, alas, but a pretty amazing place to be - like being on the moon.
