Blue (7.5km) at the ELO SOSOL at John Muir CP. A fun place to run around fast - great mix of forest and dunes - but I was hamstrung by nerve pain in the R hamstring as soon as I tried to open my stride, so it was another Old Man Shuffle. I miss being able to run properly. Oh well! My problem today, speed aside, was all in the circle; I missed half a dozen by just not being able to visualise what I was looking for, and ended up wallying around for far too long. Must have chucked 5-6 minutes that way. Another technique to brush up!
Luckily we had nice sunshine, for both the run around the 2.3km Yellow with Eilidh and then for my course, with the rain appearing just as I finished. As a result had to hop quite animatedly to the cafe for some very fine hot chocolate, yum. TRIMP 133.2.

Steady hour on the Elliptigo on the turbo, rolling through some sprints and hills on the "Advanced" programme - essentially three very drawn out interval reps. TRIMP 93.4.

Frolic in the forest with Jase, whilst there was some snow to go play in! Some paths, some hack, lots of nice route-finding through the forest, all in a decent layer of soft snow. Jolly fun! TRIMP 81.5.

Oh dear! Comedy bad start when I took a clever route to #1, only to realise when I got there that it was actually #2... #1 was in the middle of the straight line. Yes, that old chestnut. D'oh. Went back for #1 and missed it, of course, then took the (wrong) westward route to #3 and missed that, too. After that I was mostly OK but everyone else was a loop ahead! Oh well. It was a grand course, and a lovely night to be out in the wood, which was in prime condition. Unlike me...!

Whew, this is what happens when you have two relatively easy weeks - completely gubbed by the elliptical today! A bit sore after last night, too, but this was just a rude reminder of the need to keep up the hard sessions. At least I didn't boak :-). TRIMP 77.3.

Noticed a large lump behind my left knee, on the inside, just at the top of the calf (on the tendon). I sometimes get this after exercise. Wonder what it is...
