Orienteering race 1:36:12 intensity: (17 @0) + (1:58 @1) + (15:05 @2) + (46:06 @3) + (32:46 @4) **** 9.72 km (9:54 / km) +226m 8:52 / km

WOLF SOL at Uath Lochans. Short Brown - 7.7km.
I like Uath Lochans, but it's a pretty tough area, and today I was beaten before I left the box. Starting with a huge hangover from last night's festivites was not ideal, but whatever hopes I had of taking it steady for the first few and then getting up to speed quickly evaporated; I simply could not get my legs to move, not even once I stopped sweating neat gin and red wine. I would hesitate to call this a jogging pace, I even struggled to keep moving on the road and path bits. If this is my current level of fitness then it doesn't even register on the scale.

I was generally scrappy, particularly early on, but also had one big mistake, when I took my eye off the ball crossing the marsh to a large boulder and ended up on the wrong vague slope. Wasted about 7-8 minutes on that. Crawled to the finish just in time to get Jamie to his start five minutes or so after it officially closed...TRIMP 202.5.

Running warm up/down 25:02 intensity: (20:04 @1) + (4:58 @2) 2.34 km (10:42 / km) +29m 10:04 / km

Warm down around the Yellow course with Jamie. He's getting the hang of it. Thankfully he's still not running hard around his courses, which meant that I could keep up at geriatric shuffle pace. Not sure if the squeaking was coming from my ankle braces, or the ankles themselves, both of which were pretty stuffed today.

WOLF Sprint in Kingussie, Vet Men course (3km). Had I read the bumpf I would have already known that the course was 50% in forest and 50% in town; I hadn't, so heading off into the forest was a surprise. Had I read it I might have worn studded trainers rather than roadies, but I only slipped about a little. Was pretty sloppy in the forest, and lost 20-25 seconds when I switched off near the bridge and ran past my control, but otherwise I was just well off the pace, managing to keep up a steady run rather than any sort of race pace.
Lovely little course. Fun. TRIMP 55.

Running warm up/down 12:52 intensity: (3:15 @0) + (8:02 @1) + (1:35 @2) 1.38 km (9:19 / km) +13m 8:54 / km

Warm down around the M/W 12- course with Jamie. Fun. Must have tweaked my L ankle a little when I stuck it in the rabbit hole on my own course, earlier - stiffening up already.

Didn't have time to get out (the story of the week) but I went out anyway for a shortened spin into the wind and rain. Saw Will on the way out, jogging along, resting up for tomorrow...! TRIMP 87
