Slovak Karst Cup, day 3. M40 middle distance again, 4.4km. Today I was moving well and would have had my "best" performance of the week, but (of course) had one bad route choice leg to #6 and then got completely confused navigating to #11, losing 10 minutes. When I finished, the reason became obvious; after a fastest split on #9, I'd charged to the wrong #10, hence not being able to make the map fit on the route to #11. Idiot. DSQ. I'd even been getting acclimatised to the heat. Oh well - I went over on my ankle, and then my left foot completely seized afterwards (painful to hobble), so ditching the last day was probably the right thing to do anyway. Disappointing. TRIMP 110.7.

Slovak Karst Cup day 2, M40, 5.5km. Back on the Plesevic plateau (moving tomorrow). If anything, even worse than yesterday. Pitiful, 30 minutes down. TRIMP 124.

Slovak Karst Cup day 1, M40: 7.5 +260. I knew I was in trouble when the announcer came on the tannoy to say that the area was very technical and the scrub was rough... and that winning times were expected to be 10 mins / km or above. The alarm bells were ringing. So it proved, I'd lost the best part of 30 mins by number 7. Before I finished, the slowest runner was 90 mins, but I totally smashed him, and showed him what a real punter could do. 42 mins down, yeeha! Back to the same area tomorrow. Yikes. TRIMP 154.2.
