Limanowa Cup day 3. Back to the forest for a chasing start. 20 minutes down but in 6th overall. 5 minutes to the guy ahead but with 5 others in the 2 minutes behind me... they all caught me by no. 1. We all fluffed 2, then I got back to the lead through 3-5, and bashed off on the longer leg to 6, since I was clearly moving faster than the others... only to disappear into the ether. Nearly a 15 minute mistake. Idiot. Totally dispirited after that and jogged/grumped around the rest. Incredibly only lost a further 3 minutes over the next 40 minutes, so clearly everyone else was wilting in the heat. I wasn't too bad, since I was moving too slowly to overheat.
8th overall, still, incredibly, totally undeserved. Beccy pulled back 8 minutes of the 10 minutes she was down on 1st place, to take a very narrow 2nd place. TRIMP 128.8.

Limanowa Cup day 2 and the inaugural Krakow City Race - in fact, the first urban race in Poland, apparently. I can only imagine that that was true, because I was dying in the heat (30C) and was painfully slow - a long way for me, "6.8km +110m" straight line was a lot longer even for the optimum route - but I still ended up only 7 minutes down, so noone else can have had much experience of this sort of thing! Bumped into Duncan Grassie, pretty much the only other Brit (or, indeed, English speaker!) at the event, who's continuing his conquest of orienteering countries. Nice to see a friendly face :-) - not that anyone else at the event is anything other than friendly!
Krakow was a good venue for an urban race, probably about a 50/50 mix of urban and wood/scrub. Great view of the city from the high point (not that I was paying that much attention at the time to the view, just trying not to dissolve!). TRIMP 155.3

Limanowa Cup, day 1 (M40 - 4.4km +310m). Steep ravines, lots of muddy slopes, some thick veg but some nice stuff too. Poor performance from me, 12.5 minute of stupid errors (one 7.5 and 2 x 2.5) and 15 minutes down. Rusty and sluggish on a warm afternoon (ca 26C). TRIMP 162.4
