Reverse of Friday, with Beccy, before packing off the car and heading off to the next stop of the Tour - Dorset - and 3 days at Granny's. Back still fragile. TRIMP 46.6.

Tour of Britain, stage 2: Devon. Dragged out by Beccy from Higher Wood Farm with the promise of a very gentle pace and extremely soft (read completely soggy) terrain. So it proved, on both counts! Still painkiller powered, but stayed below the trigger threshold. TRIMP 40.

Running hills 23:58 intensity: (9 @1) + (22 @2) + (4:51 @3) + (16:57 @4) + (1:39 @5) 4.48 km (5:21 / km) +225m 4:17 / km

Well, I decided to risk a run up the Wrekin, but shortened the route: we parked at the bottom of the main hill rather than the other side of Ercall Woods. As luck would have it, another runner was just setting off at the same time as me, so we started off together. He was struggling a bit by the time we got to the house, though, so I pulled away and went on to the top myself. When I met him on the way back down, he turned and ran down with me. Unfortunately, he ran down the hill a lot harder than I had intended to, and I foolishly kept up. My back was screaming before the bottom. Idiot. TRIMP 62.3.

Running warm up/down 9:05 intensity: (4:59 @2) + (2:11 @3) + (1:55 @4) 1.02 km (8:54 / km) +83m 6:20 / km

Got back to the car just as Beccy and the kids were starting to walk, so I went with the chap for a short warm down before joining them on their walk. Increasingly sore. By the end of the short walk I was completely crippled. So, the rest of Christmas Day was spent in some considerable discomfort, despite being doped up to the eyeballs with painkillers and ibuprofen at frequent intervals. Sigh. TRIMP 15.8

Pretty much a repeat of yesterday, but with Beccy for company. Glad of the much reduced pace; LBP after yesterday, too much tarmac. Not sure I'll manage a jaunt up the Wrekin tomorrow. TRIMP 37.

Running 26:18 intensity: (25 @0) + (10 @1) + (3:48 @2) + (20:22 @3) + (1:33 @4) 5.23 km (5:02 / km) +45m 4:49 / km

First stage of the Christmas 2013 Tour de Britain: Telford. A short jaunt out in the midst of a howling gale and driving rain, up the road to Granville Country Park, where it was fantastically muddy and soggy. Lurvely. Thighs still suffering after my whole 1 mile on the treadmill two days ago! Wimp. TRIMP 50.1.
