Orienteering race 16:47 intensity: (6 @1) + (25 @2) + (4:15 @3) + (12:01 @4) *** 2.95 km (5:41 / km) +28m 5:26 / km
ahr:153 max:162 spiked:6/8c (injured) shoes: Inov-8 RocLite 319

GPC1, Garscube - Vet Men (2.5km +55m). 12th. Very, very cautious with pace, trying not to trigger a flare up. At several points I felt like I was jogging, but kept my head! I still managed to nearly run in entirely the wrong direction to #1. blew a minute at #10, and a few seconds at #11. Well down on DaveR's leading time of just over 14 minutes; might have broken 15 had I been trying (and not stuffed up!) TRIMP 39.0.

Running warm up/down 2:07 intensity: (55 @1) + (36 @2) + (36 @3) 0.35 km (6:03 / km) +4m 5:41 / km

Jogged back to the car...

Orienteering 11:35 intensity: (3 @1) + (24 @2) + (1:22 @3) + (8:49 @4) + (57 @5) ** 2.45 km (4:44 / km) +53m 4:16 / km
ahr:154 max:167 spiked:8/9c (injured) shoes: Inov-8 RocLite 319

GPC2, Kelvingrove - Vet Men (2.3km +45m). 5th, 1:50 down on DaveR. A very straightforward course, so no errors to report of save a tiny miss at #8.. Had to work very hard to not go for it! Found myself unconsciously racing Frances and some speedy Mens Open lad up the hill to #1 but tried not to push it thereafter; still ran a bit faster than I should have towards the end. Feeling a bit of pain afterwards - hello, brufen. TRIMP 27.8.

Orienteering race 32:38 intensity: (6 @1) + (10 @2) + (1:55 @3) + (26:06 @4) + (4:21 @5) *** 5.65 km (5:47 / km) +44m 5:34 / km
ahr:160 max:166 spiked:13/14c (injured) shoes: Inov-8 RocLite 319

GPC3, Drumpellier - Vet Men (5km +45m). 7th on this leg, and 7th overall.
Started 4m30 down on DaveR, with Ross L and John McKendrick just a few seconds ahead; everyone else too far ahead to touch. Got past Ross en route to #1, was lucky enough to spike the badly mapped #3, and got away from JM when he took a mad route out of #4.
I'd tried to be sensible from the off but got reminded by the onset of some chest pain just after passing back through #4/7 that I should NOT be racing, and tried to ease up a little after that; not that your heart rate actually drops significantly when you do that, but my breating/chest inflations did reduce.
Messed up #10 by a minute - I always get it wrong in that bit! - and found myself with Lard from #12. Had to be disciplined and not try to catch him from then on in. He wasn't going flat out but I'd have had to go flat out to catch and pass. Happy enough to be where I was overall, 7 mins down, given the enforced pace restriction. Although I still expect I overdid it; sore chest this evening, will have to dose up again before hitting the sack. Just gentle training this next week, to try to give things a chance to heal. TRIMP 93.4.

Cycling (Road) 54:44 intensity: (1:30 @1) + (28:24 @2) + (22:08 @3) + (2:42 @4) 23.75 km (26.0 kph) +165m
ahr:138 max:158 (injured) shoes: Specialized Globe Vienna Disc

Gentle/steady cycle to Braco & back, to see how my chest pain (costochondritis) is affected by gentle exercise - and give me a steer on how hard I can run tomorrow. It was OK, a bit sore whilst cycling, but became really quite sore afterwards; brufen required. I'll have to take it easy tomorrow. Apparently this can last for 6-8 weeks :-(. TRIMP 92.6.

(rest day)

I have an 'itis! Costocondritis. Oh, and a head cold. And a plate-sized blister on my heel.

Orienteering race (Night-O) 1:03:33 intensity: (24 @1) + (3:10 @2) + (4:45 @3) + (23:55 @4) + (31:19 @5) **** 9.03 km (7:02 / km) +153m 6:29 / km
ahr:160 max:171 shoes: Inov8 O-Roc 350

FVO Night race 3 - Doune. Long (6.3km). Can't remember the last time I went night orienteering, but - once again - I had to re-learn the lesson that it is night ORIENTEERING and not just night running through a forest like a headless chicken. Ran right past #3 (1 min), then was poor, poor, poor in the forest to the north of the area, but in good company on that score. Then was steady enough, but blew it all at #15 where I was convinced that everyone had dived in too early - and lost ca 2m30. Couldn't find #17, couldn't find #18 - a bit dispirited after #17, TBH. Seven minutes lost in the last six controls...
Moving alright tonight but feeling very beaten up the next morning, although for once the LBP was playing second fiddle to the chest pains that woke me up at 6am. TRIMP 187.5.

Swimming 30:00 [2] 1.25 km (24:00 / km)

If swimming is like riding a bike - as in, you never forget - then I am obviously starting to suffer from Alzheimer's. Thrashed around like a drowning landlubber for 50x25m lengths - not pretty.
