CSC Final, Brown: 10.3 +380m. Longest I've run for a very long time, and it showed. I was OK for the first part of the course, 7k to #7, just one bracken-induced 90s fluff en route, but was steady rather than fast, and had to avoid the road options on the long legs (particularly 1-2) because I knew it'd kill my back. Had a nightmare at #11, just couldn't make things fit looking for the ditch junction just through a patch of green; lost ages, 8 minutes, race blown. Then I started to struggle, not because of my back seizing (good dosage of pain killers & brufen beforehand) but simply due to very poor fitness; my R hamstring began cramping (partly nerve-related, perhaps, it's the damaged one) at #15 and I just imploded thereafter. Crawled up the hill to #16 and jogged/walked thereafter. No reason other than that I can't and don't train to run for more than 35-45 minutes once or twice a week. A bit humbling, really, but that's the reality and I'm stuck with it.
All in all an inauspicious outing. Pleased that my "run" didn't have to count. TRIMP 212.6

Soggy splash around Parkend Wood, at a training event courtesy of NGOC. Managed to arrive just at the end of a biblical downpour, and thus persuaded myself to go out. Lots of scrabbling to find controls in hidden pits - not auguring well for tomorrow :-(. TRIMP 82.4.

Another grabbed opportunity for a run from S&T's house, before travelling to Dorset. Feeling better than Sunday, surprised to be slower. Dreadfully unfit. TRIMP 57.2.
