A very easy jog up to the Gathering Stane, with small extension into the plantation beyond for variety, and spurning hard-packed tracks for trails & rides where possible. Lower back very twitchy after yesterday's cycle, so I started easy and kept ramping back with the twinges - pretty much walking by the end. Think I need to tweak the riding position on that bike; it's clearly giving me gip. TRIMP 81.5.

It's been a rubbish week for training for all sorts of (feeble) reasons, so today's chance to cycle was a small opportunity to prevent a complete dead loss. I need to build up to a full commute, though - for back and fitness reasons - so I jumped on the train to Linlithgow (£12.40 return! What a rip-off) and rode around the hills to Livingston, through Torphichen and Bathgate. A medium SW breeze increased the effort level. TRIMP 81.7.

E-cycling (Road) 1:04:50 intensity: (3:58 @1) + (31:43 @2) + (27:31 @3) + (1:38 @4) 33.94 km (31.4 kph) +283m

I had a bit more time at the end of the day, so opted for a longer cycle, from Livi to Larbert. I took the nicer route, over the hills to Shieldhill and down into Falkirk. The (now stiffer) WSW wind again made things somewhat more challenging. My back was starting to protest quite loudly towards the end of proceedings, so I was right not to be too ambitious today. TRIMP 102.7.
