I've heard about the Tak Ma Doon road many times, but have only recently discovered where it is - so, when Beccy said that she needed to go to survey a site in Kirkintilloch, I snatched the opportunity to throw Bertha in the back of the truck and cycle back over the hill.
I can see why the road has a fearsome reputation. It just goes up, then up, and up again - and, when you think you've got to have done all the steep pulls, it throws another one at you. I was struggling: too many clothes, too little training, and too much burger too little time before starting! Still, I made it, and it's a grand cycle. The road surface fell to pieces near North Third reservoir. Mind you, it disappeared completely coming back up the Old Glen Road from Bridge of Allan - I hadn't realised that it had been washed away a bit further up from the big landslip.
Well pooped by the end. And not really that much faster than the chaps winning the London Marathon, which was much the same distance (if somewhat less hilly!).
TRIMP 185.7.

WEE at the Hermitage. What a difference some rain makes - slippy as heck out there tonight. Straight up the hill to start, my hamstrings didn't know what had hit them - two days in a row, seriously? Time to go on strike, boys. And they did. Couldn't get the legs going at all! No mistakes, really, just a couple of hesitations, so just down on running speed. That's fine by me. TRIMP 88.0.

Running warm up/down 18:38 intensity: (3:27 @1) + (4:37 @2) + (5:01 @3) + (5:33 @4) 1.91 km (9:45 / km) +93m 7:51 / km

A spot of control collecting. Even the wee course went straight up the hill! TRIMP 30.4.

Easy run up the hill to the Stane. If I want to do alternate days at the Six Days, I need to start building up to it. My achilles is 90%, which is great, but my back was protesting after 20 mins, so I eased back even more. Well, we'll see. If I can manage 4 of the 6 days, it'll be a result, and there's still plenty of time to build up to that target.

A couple of comedy running to stand still moments - it's windy, today! Much fun. TRIMP 90.
