Six Days day 1, Dunollie & Ganavan. M40L: 7.1km +370m. Poor run. Very choppy underfoot, tough slog, not fit enough for it; made a series of very stupid mistakes to boot.

Busy day in the office, so much so that I didn't have time for lunch until 3pm, so I was tired, but the hills looked lovely on the way home so I stopped off at the uni and went for a run up Dumyat. Went around the uni to the Experimental Gardens then pattered slowly up the hill to the top - great views. Came back along the ridge and crossed the fields to the north side of the reservoir. The wheels started to come off here; really don't know why, other than that my legs are very badly out of practice at running up hills (or at all, really, at the moment), but it was pretty shocking how much I was starting to suffer on what I would call a "bread and butter" run - one where I could expect to push hard all the way.

Nice day to be out but a bit depressing to have my lack of fitness thrown into such stark relief. The Six Days is going to be a struggle.
