SOL3 Dallaschyle, M40L: 8.1km. To steal Gary's turn of phrase: not my best run...

Decided to go steady due to still not feeling great and it being forest orienteering (I don't "do" trees, after all). Was OK to #1, but made a complete hash of #2 - blew 5 mins. After that I was steadily and consistently shoddy. Plodding along and being rubbish in the control circle. Struggled with the map, glad to hear that it wasn't just me... I'm just not good enough to be able to adapt to it. Far too much fannying around hunting in the vicinity of the controls. Still, I actually quite enjoyed it, and didn't find it too madly rough and tough. With a decent map it could have been brill.

Looking at the HR data I rather gave up at about the 60 minute mark - too many mistakes to be competitive! - and just pootled in from there. Tsk.

Running warm up/down 3:32 intensity: (23 @1) + (1:34 @2) + (1:35 @3) 0.58 km (6:06 / km)
ahr:135 max:145 shoes: Inov8 O-Roc 350

Jog back from the finish.

More of the same.

Feeling pretty ropey today - sore throat and washed out. Not sure it merits an "Illness" tickbox yet... but I certainly don't feel like running.

Running (Trail) 55:31 intensity: (35 @1) + (13:39 @2) + (26:50 @3) + (14:27 @4) 9.57 km (5:48 / km) +268m 5:05 / km
ahr:144 max:160 shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 11

Stopped off at the uni for a run, on the way home; pretty dead beat after a long day and swithering about bothering at all. Took 10 mins to work up some enthusiasm before starting to change, when, lucky me, Fi turned up, having arranged to go for a run with Ross (who duly arrived 5 mins later). Hooray, company! And very pleasant company at that. It was a bit damp but it was warm, and our easy wee jaunt around Hermitage Woods, up the road to Mine Woods and back through BrOfA passed by without really noticing the rain at all. Still a bit under the weather (oops) and with a sore throat (probably because of my non-stop blethering!) so this was just what was needed. Thanks, both!

Fantastic night for the Dumyat hill race. So where am I? In the office - fixing Beccy's company's broken file server backups. Before heading home to spend 4 hours preparing the VAT return. Great.

Ran there.

Running (Road) 8:32 intensity: (33 @1) + (1:38 @2) + (2:43 @3) + (3:38 @4) 1.77 km (4:49 / km) +62m 4:06 / km

Running (Trail) 37:46 intensity: (26 @1) + (2:56 @2) + (24:17 @3) + (10:07 @4) 7.49 km (5:03 / km) +172m 4:31 / km
ahr:146 max:159

Post-work pre-dinner Gathering Stane jaunt. Decided to try out the Mudclaw 330s that I'd acquired from young Mr Marsden, who'd wanted to rid himself of them after they'd given him blisters. Given that my last pairs of Inov8 shoes have been very comfortable, hopes were high. Sadly within 4k my right heel was sore, by 5km it was very sore, by 6km I was limping, and on return I peeled off the shoe to find a 2p-sized burst blister on my heel. Bah.

Had to stop twice due to being jumped on by large dogs whilst their owners frantically called them back. Time to invest in a tazer.

Cycling (Road) 51:49 intensity: (2:05 @1) + (33:19 @2) + (13:26 @3) + (2:59 @4) 21.09 km (24.4 kph) +177m
ahr:134 max:159

If I have to go back to work, I might as well enjoy the commute... so I chucked Bertha in the back of the chariot and drove to Linlithgow. Took the longer route around Torphichen to delay the onset of the drudgery for as long as possible. Very pleasant to be out - roads quiet, cool but clear. We like.
5 PM

Cycling (Road) 44:16 intensity: (4:29 @1) + (24:01 @2) + (11:29 @3) + (4:17 @4) 18.61 km (25.2 kph) +234m
ahr:133 max:163

So, after a very frustrating day at the office (automatic Windows update completely fries PC whilst I'm away, spend several hours trying to save myself 3 days of reinstallations - no joy) it was time to head out into the by now very sunny but rather breezy Livingscum afternoon. Straight over the hill. Yum yum. Fabbo clear views from the top, as far as the Bass Rock.
