Running warm up/down 14:43 2.35 km (6:16 / km) +34m 5:50 / km

Jogged to the start of the SOSL at Devilla, nursing a sore R ankle.

Running race (Terrain) 1:00:41 **** 8.21 km (7:23 / km) +26m 7:17 / km

So a return to yesterday's form - sadly yesterday morning, not afternoon. Set off really without a clue or any thought of orienteering; to be fair I'd had an awful night, had woken up with a splitting headache, and had gone back to bed for half an hour at 10am, but, really, I should have at least recognised the futility in setting out before leaving the house and wasting everyone's time.
Ok to #1, duffed #2, off at #3, ok to #4, then completely messed up #5, eventually finding myself at #7 having just missed #5 by <100m, then heading off to #9, from where I relocated and set off 180 degrees in the wrong direction... that was 18 minutes binned, and I'd still got ca. 5 mins to run back to #5 (if I could find it). Tweaked the ankle at that point, too, so I jacked. If I hadn't there was a fair chance that Beccy could have gone into labour, driven to the hospital, given birth and returned home before I would have finished. It still took almost 30 mins to jog back.
Good job I'm hanging up my O shoes for a few weeks.

Orienteering race 26:56 ***** 4.49 km (6:00 / km) +51m 5:41 / km
ahr:157 max:170 slept:6.0 shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305

PWT Open qualifier, race 1, Scone. Turned up tired, expecting a park run, and suddenly found myself having to do a proper, hard, orienteering course - at high speed! Unprepared both mentally and physically, I failed utterly to step up to the challenge, and never even started to 'switch on' - two horrendous mistakes and missing 80% of the controls by a noticeable margin, this was as badly as I have orienteered in a very long time. I even wasted 25s running past the finish towards the download tent...

Orienteering race 18:46 ***** 4.53 km (4:09 / km) +8m 4:06 / km
ahr:164 max:173 slept:6.0 shoes: Inov-8 F-Lite 230

PWT race 2, in Perth City Centre. This was a bit more like it. No trees! And somewhat more awake... thoroughly enjoyed it. A little sluggish, but not too bad, and only a couple of questionable route choices; a couple of unneccessary hesitations later on, too, when I got tired. Altogether a better performance and an enjoyable race.

Running warm up/down 4:00 [2] 0.4 km (10:00 / km)
slept:6.0 shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305

Wee jog before orienteering to see if my ankle was up to the challenge...

Orienteering race 32:34 ** 5.63 km (5:47 / km) +149m 5:06 / km
ahr:156 max:167 slept:6.0 shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305

WEE at Kinneil, long, about 4.9km. Struggling tonight - feeling drained (dodgy tum today) and R ankle still sore, tried pretty hard to start but faded badly and felt like I was running through treacle. Also managed to mark down two controls in the wrong place at the second master map, and threw away 90s or so - d'oh! Always nice to run in the forest at Kinneil, though, lovely open forest and very little grot on the course (thanks, Jen!).

Running warm up/down 9:04 1.32 km (6:52 / km) +36m 6:02 / km
ahr:135 max:148 slept:6.0 shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305

Wee loop to collect in a few controls as a warm down.
