Hill walking 6:19:28 [2] 19.35 km (19:37 / km) +1292m 14:42 / km
slept:3.5 (injured) shoes: Scarpa SL M3 boots

M268: Sgurr Mor. Somewhat more ambitious, this, in winter conditions, so we set off at 7:30 up the side of Loch Arkaig to Glen Dessary. I wasn't sure that my (hurting) achilles would be up to it, and it was certainly sore, but didn't go pop. Over the pass from Glen D into Glen Kingie, through a dusting of fresh snow, then down and a steep 800m straight up to the summit. Snow from 750m but no crampons required. Only fleeting views - much cloudier today - but still a good day for winter walking.

16 to go now.

M267: Gairich. Given the lack of practice and unsurity about conditions, we went for the easy hill first - and it was fine. Icy bogs and paths, and crampons needed up top, but grand views and no wind. Very nice.

Sore heel today, so, back on the X-Trainer. Feeling a bit lacklustre to start but I stuck at it and ended up with a 50-minute PB - take that, machine!

Gym (Cross-trainer) 5:00 [1] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)

Just a wee cool down.

Strength training (Circuits) 25:00 [2]

FVO circuits at home - 2 sets of 30/5, one of 25/5.
4 PM

Running (Trail) 30:02 intensity: (15 @1) + (33 @2) + (25:20 @3) + (3:54 @4) 5.61 km (5:21 / km) +69m 5:03 / km
ahr:140 max:158 (injured) shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305

So, I figured that by going even slower than on Monday I might be able to get out towards Ashfield and back without hitting the achilles pain threshhold. Of course, I forgot to cater in the fact that, because I was going slowly, it would take LONGER. Doofus. Heel became noticeably uncomfortable at 24 minutes, so reasonable progress; hope I haven't gone too far... it would be gutting to have exacerbated things whilst running so incredibly slowly.

Cycling (Turbo Trainer) 32:00 intensity: (20 @1) + (3:39 @2) + (15:19 @3) + (12:42 @4)
ahr:142 max:161 weight:65.9kg

Intervals on an exercise bike at the uni gym - 5 x 4 mins, with 2 mins between reps. Pushed along pretty well.

Gym (Treadmill) 11:52 intensity: (28 @2) + (57 @3) + (10:27 @4)
ahr:147 max:153 weight:65.9kg shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 11

Easy jog on the treadmill until my achilles started to become noticeably uncomfortable. I'd hoped to make it to 15 minutes, but not quite. I'll try building up gradually from here.
