Orienteering race 59:48 [3] *** 7.64 km (7:50 / km) +400m 6:12 / km
ahr:152 max:168 spiked:12/19c shoes: Jalas Black FLX

Hermitage & Dumyat, Brown: 6.1km/425m. A great, tough challenge set by Mr F Grump Esq that took me to bits of the area that I've never been to before - no mean feat - and I really enjoyed it. First proper run all week!

Felt good to start, no probs through the woods although a fairly duff route choice to #8. Fell foul of the 'interesting' #12, I knew it was there but couldn't find it; lost 2 minutes, but I was far from alone in losing time there! Then a nice climb, even nicer descent, and back into the wood when the weather worsened, my thoughts turned to home, and I let in a few fluffs on the last four controls, ca 2.5 mins in all. Happy enough, though. Cheers, Will!

Running (Easy) 33:08 [3] 7.1 km (4:40 / km) +56m 4:29 / km
ahr:143 max:158 shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 11

Early morning run in Dortmund, from the hotel, before breakfast & heading off to the last meeting of the week. Legs on backward for the first 10 mins, as usual for early runs, and some stopping for traffic lights. Nice morning. Looking forward to running at a decent pace sometime soon!

France - after two meetings in Switzerland today. Tired after little sleep, meetings & driving 300km, but I forced myself out into the dusk to get in a short trundle from the hotel (nr Mulhouse, France) before dinner. Found a little country lane that led off into the gloom and kept on it as long as I could see where to put my feet; I narrowly avoided singing soprano when I encountered a metal post in the middle of the path! I eventually got back to civilisation and pootled around the industrial zone back to the hotel. Pretty duff as far as exercise goes, but better than being lazy, and I'm going to struggle to get out either tomorrow or Friday.

Gym 30:00 [2]

Hotel gym at 6:30am (that's 5:30am UK time, zzz) - just time for a wee workout before breakfast and heading off to the first meeting of the day.

Note

Planes, trains and automobiles... just caught the train to Vienna, bus to airport, 3 hour delay on the flight to Zurich (thought we weren't going to get there at all); just got the hire car before the desk closed, road closed en route to the hotel, got in at 12:30am... and up again at 6 tomorrow for a 90 minute drive aieeee

Running (Trail) 49:00 [3] 10.03 km (4:53 / km) +90m 4:41 / km
ahr:145 max:154 shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 11

Austria today. Arrived in Graz early enough to get out for a trundle before darkness fell. It was a gorgeous day for a run. One lap of the lake, then I spent a pleasant 4km yumping, jumping, twisting and turning my way around the MTB trail in the wood. Much fun, but my legs were deader than any number of dodos. Finished off around the far side of the lake, with the sunset reflecting on the water. Most pretty.
