Running (Trail) 37:15 [3] 8.25 km (4:31 / km) +120m 4:13 / km
ahr:149 max:162 shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Attack WR

Doune Ponds, Doune Castle and Wood of Doune.
Took a few minutes away from the removals to go and finally take a look at this place - I've never been, and Dixie says it's great (I'll get to run it with him one day soon!). It IS lovely, grand afternoon for a run too. Route-finding was a little dodgy, but I got there in the end. Left hamstring / buttock still giving me gip... must see that physio.

Running warm up/down (Trail) 8:30 [2] 1.53 km (5:33 / km) +20m 5:13 / km
ahr:133 max:147 shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Attack WR

Finished off with a wee leg stretch around Doune Ponds. Can't believe I've never been there before!

Note
(rest day)

Not planned - but with the day taken up by empyting the study (the builders are demolishing it on Sunday, 2 weeks ahead of schedule) and visiting Killearn to relieve friends of a wad of books, a run never happened... lazy, lazy.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling better but drained - best buck the trend and be sensible for once.

Note
(sick)

Picked up a lovely double-ender bug from Jamie - yeurgh. Not a great way to lose weight.

Orienteering race 53:53 [3] *** 6.43 km (8:23 / km) +245m 7:02 / km
ahr:146 max:166 shoes: Jalas Black FLX

FVO WEE at Sauchie Crags. Such a rough and tough wee area, and I was unable to wear my ankle brace (it have already worn a chunk out of leg) so this was a tentative trundle for me. Saying that I went along OK, and would have been even better had I not somehow managed to screw up the safe option on the long leg and lose 5-6 minutes, duffer! Still - I beat the missus by 2 and a half minutes. Roger sadly DID crock his ankle.

Running (Road & trail) 59:08 6.0 km (9:51 / km) +230m 8:16 / km
ahr:114 max:149 shoes: Asics Gel Landreth 3

Very gentle jog from Rosco's with FVO soup group. No real route plan, but we ended up tootling around parts of the sprint course, with JonX and Ross comparing route choice options, so they got a few bits of fast leg work in with long slow recovery stints - ideal preparation for their 10km race tomorrow! My legs felt very flat; a bit like my head, then,, but not like my tum (must stop eating left over crisps and nuts from the wedding BBQ, oh oh!). Anyway my wonderful GPS watch tells me that we were standing still for 22m33s of the 59m08s run, so not many of those excess calories were burnt off!
Spurned the post-race soup in order to dash home for the promised fish pie dinner, yum - only to find B exhausted after cleaning up bucket loads of baby sick, and the pie unstarted. Poor J must have caught Katie's bug. At least Abby's excellent muffins gave us a nice dessert after the beans on toast.

Cycling 45:24 [3] 18.0 km (2:31 / km) +265m 2:21 / km
ahr:138 max:162

Shamefully, my first train-bike commute of 2008, and it showed. The climb on the way up out of Linlithgow to the top of Cairnpapple was as hard as ever, and I was pretty slow. I couldn't even let Bertha fly on the descents as it was rather wet undertyre. Now that I'm sitting at my desk with my mug of coffee, however, I can bask in the warm glow of knowing that I got in some decent, non achilles-threatening exercise before breakfast. Who needs Special K to get the day off to a good start?

Cycling (Road) 43:40 [3] 18.0 km (2:26 / km) +175m 2:19 / km
ahr:141 max:161

Even more tired on the way back! The 5-mile grind to the top of Cairnpapple nearly killed me off. At least it was sunny - nice views. I had plenty of time to look at them.
