Note
(rest day)

Dad and Zoe visiting from NI - no chance to get any exercise in. Jealous of the FVO trail runners, but then my back is sore from yesterday, so perhaps a non-running day was a good thing!

Running (Terrain) 1:10:00 [3] ** 7.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +400m 8:30 / mi
ahr:144 shoes: Silva K80 dobs

A lovely run through Sauchie Crags, essentially running the club champs route (much faster this time) and scouting out for possible night-O control sites, then ran south along the crags and over the next set of crags to meet Beccy down by the reservoir, where she'd be doing her bird count. Lovely run, felt strong (hooray!), and properly airy over the crags. That forest south of the mapped area could definitely do with some exploration to see if it's worth extending the map into.

Gym (Cross-trainer) 50:00 [4] 11.24 km (4:27 / km)
ahr:153 max:165 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road

Solid 'hilly' workout on the cross-trainer; a day off from the impact of running, but I'm looking forward to getting out on Sauchie crags tomorrow!

Gym (Stretching) 15 [1]

Worked all the tightness out of my hamstrings and calves.

Running (Trail run) 42:25 [3] 5.85 mi (7:15 / mi)
ahr:151 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road

'Urban trail' run through some woods & parks on the south side of Livingston. Hamstrings a bit tight but generally felt better than when I ran out this way last week - improvement is good. Need to keep the leg speed up. As the avg HR shows, it's the legs, not the cardiovascular system, that are holding things back at the minute!

Gym (Cross-trainer) 20:00 [3] 2.75 mi (7:16 / mi)
ahr:147 max:165 shoes: Nike Air Zoom

Non-impact cardio, high leg speed; legs felt OK, so all those drills and sprints last night really DID ease the muscles off after intervals. That Lard knows his stuff.

Gym (Rowing) 7:58 [3] 2.0 km (3:59 / km)
ahr:145 max:158 shoes: Nike Air Zoom

Good solid 2km pull at sub 2-minute 500m's.

Gym (Strength training) 20:00 [2]
shoes: Nike Air Zoom

Basic 'bells & abs workout, short of time.

Intervals 17:57 [5] 5.0 km (3:35 / km)
max:184 shoes: Asics GT-2120 road

Cool session - a paired 10k race, with the fastest person going with the slowest, then the next fastest with the next slowest, etc - so Ross was with Maureen at one extreme, and Jase was with Pete B at the other. Strategy up to the team, so my teammate George and I decided to do alternate 800's, with me doing the final 400. Crap tactic, we were last, and both ran hard! Race was won by a speedy Ochil and total ringer Lewis, who didn't know how fast he could run but totally flew around. I was happy enough with my pace.

For the 800s: 2:42(81/lap), 2:44(82/lap), 2:47 (83/lap), 2:50(85/lap), 2:48(84/lap), 2:47(83/lap). Final 400 in 78. Average: 82.7s/lap. Considering the lack of training: OK. Need to knock 10s a lap off that!

George was hitting 3:00-3:05 for his 800s, and our total time was a bit over 36mins. Really enjoyed it. Knee seized up a bit, mind.

Running (Warm up/down) 30:00 [1] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2120 road

Usual warm up jog, drills, sprints and warm down. Completely blasted by Abi on the 60m sprints, but then I was in good company on that score - that girl can fly! As for Lewis, I'm spiking that boy's drinks.
