Back pretty bad this morning and totally fecked by the afternoon. By dinner time I could hardly sit down at the table, even with help from Co-Codamol. Think it was probably from trying to run one-legged yesterday - idiot. I feel totally lopsided as well. Minimal movement for a bit.

FVO Pilates and Circuits. Feeling pretty strong and controlled during Pilates, but the warm up jog before Circuits was all it took to trigger my knee to start swelling (sigh!). Carried on but it got a little worse as the sets progressed. Ice later.

Headed up towards Fairfield with the ladies on a minging day - good company took my mind off the worst of the weather! Turned around early to come back down with Cath as she was cold, and I'd been planning on heading back early anyway, as I knew I'd be slow going down the hill and didn't want to hold anyone up. Did enough to make my knee swell a little but definitely no damage done, my quads were strong enough to take the strain off the knee.

BMU - Purple Unicorn. Hm, probably the hardest workout of the programme so far, and with my knee still unhappy after Tuesday's session. Sensible? No. Did it hurt? Yes, towards the end. But now the week is ticked off, I can rest up, and the knee can recover over the course of a nice sociable weekend in the Lakes. A heady mix of anti-inflammatories and beer will do the trick.

Knee test - jog/limp/walk - before going to see the doc tomorrow. No surprises: anything other than a very easy jog on a flat surface, where the knee is mostly straight when the foot hits the ground and push-off is extremely gentle, rapidly starts causing twinges & pains that quickly escalate into unpredictable knee buckling.

A bit of fun as part of the FVO SnOw activity day - Street-O using the MapRun app on my phone. Set off at a very easy jog and kept going until about the 22 minute mark, when my knee started to twinge. Walked for a bit, jogged a bit more, twinge, and repeat for the remainder. No extra pain or swelling afterwards, so I managed it alright, but this was a long way from running.

HR was just off my wrist, and the watch wasn't tight, so it's very inaccurate - I really wasn't trying that hard, Also had a bit of technical bother with the MapRun app - my phone kept suspending it when the screen was off so I had to keep turning it back on. Great for battery life, but not great for a running app!

Night-O: Dunblane. Long course plus jog to start and warm up. I had to forego the mass start and run early, due to childcare arrangements. I also had forgotten to clear my card prior to jogging to the Start but didn't have time to go back - ah. Well, that didn't matter because my knee was so bad that I was struggling to jog and at times it was so painful that I had to stop and stretch/mobilise, fiddle with the knee support, then hobble stiff-legged on, grimacing and swearing. It was a shame because Gary had planned a nice course with lots of variety in a very small area, but the whole experience was pretty purgatorial for me. Why I carried on running after the first five minutes, God only knows. sigh. It looks as if this isn't going to be something I can just manage; I'm going to have to go join a long waiting list to get an X-ray or a scan to see what's the problem and if anything can be done about it.

Another attempt to link the Wester Cromlix track with the Braes of Doune - Braco track. One dead end (locked gate) then followed the track up onto the moor & into the mist. It rapidly deteriorated and turned into a bog. Then it disappeared altogether. I squelched on for a while, nothing to see but my GPS kept me heading north, but eventually I bottled in the fading light and turned tail. Back through the torrid bog. I'll not be trying that route again.

BMU - Pedalling drills. Easy session, practicing pedalling one-legged and super-high cadence; glad it was short because, although my knee had been OK in the morning, by the time I left work - having been sitting down all day apart from walking up to the shop at lunchtime - it had swollen up. FFS.
