My new toy has arrived - a lovely e-bike to tame the 35-mile commute from Dunblane to Livingston. Well, that's the plan. Once I'd pulled it out of the box and set the bars, attached the pedals (SPDs soon) and charged the battery, a wee test run was required. As luck would have it, Marcus fancied an easy cycle, so I persuaded him that if he didn't mind me taking along the new bike I would be gentle with him.

Umm. It really is rather, ah, easy to pedal along at 20-25mph on this thing! Even up the hills. Marcus pedalled along manfully beside me whilst I bimbled, him sweating whilst I got a bit cold, whoops! This is really going to make the 35 miles seem more like 15 in a morning... Technology is grand. Shame about the bent rear wheel (sigh) - nothing's ever perfect out of the box, these days. Looking forward to getting it fixed and putting it through its paces properly.

Kinbuck - Braco - Blackford - Sherrifmuir loop. Gorgeous day for a cycle; getting a little too hot and the views had turned a bit hazy, I should have gone out first thing! Lovely, regardless. Suffering a bit with my back today, painkillers required.

Train/cycle commute. Misty and dank - sun a bit slow in burning it off, so I got a bit wet! Nice and cool, though. Legs a bit tired, must be very unfit by now...

Lovely and sunny for the return trip, with a westerly wind to help or, at least, not hinder; lovely cycle. Fantastic views across the Forth from the high point. Feeling reasonably strong.

Cycled home from Camelon after dropping the car off to have its exhaust replaced. It was wet, but reasonably warm, and there was very little wind, which made for reasonable cycling conditions. Enjoyed it.

Pressed for time, but on the basis that some exercise is better than none... a quick blast around the Auchinlay Rd circuit. Strong westerly wind but, for once, it didn't seem to be an impediment. Felt good, but then I've had lots of rest recently...
Cold wind, so it took a while for the HR monitor to get warmed up!

Up at Ardnamurchan, Beccy with some work to do nr Kilchoan, free cottage = long w/e with family. Managed to get out for a short exercise today, only real option was to go for a run, so I headed uphill towards a bit of wood for at least some soft surface. Not enough, though, I was really feeling it in my back/hamstring before the end. Next two days written off with a bad back.

Busy day constructing a climbing frame. Had hoped to go out for a cycle, but it was too late - and then the heavens opened - so I opted to go for a short run to collect my phone from the pickup truck at the garage, where we'd got the RAC man to abandon it last night after he'd rescued us from the M9.
Felt OK, minor niggles from the R hamstring but largely ignorable, so ignore them I did. I'll probably regret that but feckit. TRIMP 59.9.

First day since Sunday that my back has been up to exercise. But no time. So, a short run. Hamstring sore very quickly but didn't get worse; still, didn't risk a full Gathering Stane round. Had to lie down with feet in the air for the rest of the evening though.
