Running (JP Morgan Challenge) 19:50 [3] 5.6 km (3:33 / km)
Corporate hitout in Centennial Park on a cool Wednesday evening. Impressive turnout apparently - in the order of 6 or 7 thousand folk for a lap of the park.
Started a few rows back from the front, and was reminded of the importance of elbow technique for the first couple of hundred meters before things started to free up. Nasty first km with a decent pinch got me puffing and a reminder to be a little sensible, and going thru' 1k under 3:30 was a reminder a might be pushing my luck a little. I found a rhythm just below threshold and hit the next couple of k's bang on 3:30's before tiring a little in k's 4 & 5. I went thru 5k in about 17:45 which is probably a 21st century PB for me, before suffering it home in the last 600m to scrape in just under 20 minutes. Pretty happy with that, and ~40sec faster than 2 years ago. 82nd place according to the results.
A few corporate Coronas to finish off an enjoyable evening, and heading home with the annual road hitout wrapped up for another year.
