Bruce Ridge with Nat - becoming a good Monday morning habit. Took a few different tracks today. Enjoyed it out there and by the time we were done it was a warm sunny day!

NSW Long Distance at Roseberg SF. I had thought I'd run here previously but have not. This explains why I had no idea where we were going in the morning and drove via Cowra (i.e. double the distance required), but at least got phone reception and coffee there...

After a very long wait until my start, set off pretty well. A bit wayward to 1 (very easy and short leg of course). Was channelling Kent Olson really well until 5 but from there was letting the fallen timber push me about. Losing time on all the subsequent controls (6 too far up hill, 7 unable to read map properly and went to wrong boulder, 8 all over the shop, 9 got distracted by others who I knew were too high). Can't believe I got a good split to 10 - what was everyone doing???? And 11, I told myself to run home but had nothing left... Not sure why I got so tired for a 6km course!

Wyangala Dam - NSW middle distance champs. A really steep map and was glad I had an old ladies start - contouring rather than going down and then up the hill. Even so, running the contour was not fast or pretty as surface was loose and steep!

Fairly clean run but nowhere near fast enough on this terrain (open and easy to spot people heading for controls) so only had 22 sec over nearest rival. Not assisted by blowing 2 min on 13 nor by blowing a gasket climbing the hill to the last control. To put things in perspective - Aoife climes that hill twice and was only 10 sec slower than me on the same leg (her second time up the hill).

Logistical success, finishing 1 meeting in the car while Eoin drove out to the event, where I had a 1 hour window before the afternoon meetings recommenced. Made it with a couple of minutes to spare - helped by not having to draw our own maps today :) Also quite nice as finished the first session of the afternoon early - before we even got home again!

Remembrance Park from Mt Ainslie Dr or whatever it might be called. Quite steep and again made the stupid mistake of unnecessarily running up hills (particularly at 4). Got most OK, a bit off to 1, 8, and 11 and was losing energy for the end of the course. Misread map for 15. Eoin steamed past between 11 and 12 and way too fast for me to keep up, or even get a bit of assistance.
