Orienteering race 39:15 [4]
City of London race. Another cracking event. This time I almost conquered the Barbican, mainly getting out to find the last control which cost me 3 minutes and perhaps second place, but thrilled to be 3rd and on the podium. After a tricky first control all fairly easy until we went into the Barbican for the first time. Misread, or should I say, didn't look at the position of, number 7. I assumed it was a wall whereas it was actually a tunnel end the other side of the wall with a longish detour. Only cost me around a minute. 10 & 11 back in the Barbican were both tricky. Didn't see the best, shortest route to 10 until I talked about it with Miriam afterwards. Used this as my route in reverse to 11 as I'd run past it to get to 10. No problem with 12, but did not see the route to get onto the passage way to the Finish and so ran 3 sides round a large block of apartments and into the finish via the road! Pleased with position - may be I should have beaten Liz, but certainly not the winner, who I had no previous knowledge of. She was from Edinburgh though so I have an excuse.
