Reflexbana...
1. ??:?? (17:10, ??:??, ??:??)

Ankle felt ok so decided to not accept the reality once more and head out into the darkness after rowing. Mistake.

Tried to think about how I couldn't answer the orthopedic doctor's question about exactly where it was painful. Became tender at the front-right of the ankle pretty quickly but this got better 5-10 minutes in. There was also a moment where it hurt at the front-left but this was literally momentary.

After 25 minutes the front-right side became very painful and forced me to stop. Decided to not do anymore, stretched the calf muscle and then started to walk back. This went ok to begin with but got very painful as the walk went on.

Verruca on the other foot quite-very painful throughout - these new longer-spiked shoes really aggravate it. Trying to find a positive here - I guess that apart from my feet everything else was working fairly ok lol.

Cycling (road) 1:24:45 [1] 30.4 km (2:47 / km) +215m 2:42 / km
ahr:118 max:139 shoes: schwalbe marathon

This was going to be a looong, easy one but the 1mm of rain forecast turned into a LOT more and I really wasn't dressed for it. Picked up the pace a little and turned homewards at the first reasonable opportunity.

Note

After the ultrasound last week it was pretty much decided that I needed one or more cortisone injections but from all the evidence gathered so far plus a small examination the orthopedic surgeon I visited today decided he wanted to have an MRI done before doing anything. Good plan.

Hills route...

Not a great performance as my legs were quite tired. Churned it out however and another positive is that my ankle seemed a bit better than usual.

Cycling (road) 1:08:35 [2] 28.1 km (2:26 / km) +240m 2:20 / km
ahr:140 max:157 shoes: schwalbe marathon

Around the lake route.

Physio this morning - I have one lower leg strengthening exercise and one big toe tendon stretching exercise to do regularly to try and stop the inflammations from happening.

I also asked about whether or not I should be taking NSAIDs and apparently my current strategy is the correct one in this particular case, don't take any tablets at all.

I'm off to the orthopedic doctor on Friday for one or more cortisone shots then I have to take a few days off exercise.

Running (road/xc) 59:55 [3] 11.1 km (5:24 / km)
ahr:148 max:159 weight:92.2kg shoes: walsh pb trainer

Trail run again but this time the flatter one with no singletrack I do every so often. I figure even less chance of aggravating my ankle.

It went ok, felt mostly coordinated and comfortable at a steady effort. Enjoyable at times during the first half, less so in the second.
