Söders 10mila training camp day 2 - group long-distance session.

After the first few controls the group split into two smaller groups and started comparing straight vs path route choices. Very reasonable terrain.

Mostly steady but once I started to get tired I took it very easy back to the car park on my own. 500mg naproxen again, ankle ok again. Good. Got away with it and now time to stay away from the terrain for a while, visit the physio for treatment and exercises on Thursday, go from there.

Orienteering (forest) 1:16:20 [3] 8.3 km (9:12 / km)
ahr:144 max:162 shoes: inov-8 oroc 280 red - 2nd pair

Söders 10mila training camp day 1 - butterfly training.

Before travelling down popped into the chemist and bought some anti-inflammatory tablets - I had been prescribed some diclofenac from some dr or other but never tried that before so reverted to naproxen instead (500mg). I remember getting on quite well with this from the time recovering from the knee surgery. Incidentally it was 2 years ago today that I broke it.

Not the best orienteering area in terms of size but some interesting bits. Took it fairly easy, not feeling all that coordinated (especially towards the end) plus still tired in the legs from the reflexbana on Wednesday (not often running more than 40 mins just now). Ankle got through the session ok.

Made a bad mistake - non-existent compass through a vague, fairly featureless bit and made a parallel error interpreting the contours. Amazing how long I spent guessing (way off the edge of the map as it happened) before going back to last known point. Depressing.

Reflexbana...

A little bit more naughty than doing the hill session as this does venture away from the paths a bit more but took 400mg ibuprofen and tried to be smart, slow and careful.

At times the ankle felt ok, other times (especially towards the end) had to nurse it through which wasn't super easy because my left leg is not fantastic at compensating (but no glute, hamstring or knee pain tonight fortunately).

Overall happy to be able to do a longer session than usual and kind of enjoy myself too. Some light stretching afterwards, iced the ankle before bed.

One other positive thing is that I have realised I can now put my socks on in the morning without any lower back pain :)

Discussion and ankle examination with physio this morning - apparently I should not be running. I understood that as I should not be running in ankle-demanding terrain. Until the weekend.

Felt good today and went out even faster, paid the price on the way back.
