Note
I've started to feel a bit more motivated about training properly again and of course what better way to reinforce that than an internet training blog.
The baby has been sleeping through the night fairly well the last couple of months and now the clocks have gone forward so regular training is starting to seem possible for the first time in a long while.
Hmm goals, better have some I guess. I've just read a pessimistic (jealous even, perhaps) BBC news article about Tiger Woods and how he can't come to terms with not being elite anymore. Not so relevant for my situation, I was never orienteering at an elite level, perhaps close in 2009 when I was 32. Regardless of that I always had a dream/fantasy of being competitive at an elite level and I guess I have to understand now that I didn't realise that goal and move on. It's not all bad though, orienteering is a sport where competition exists at all ages right?
The short term goal is to simply solve the physical problems, year after year I feel more and more awkward, clunky and unnatural when running, esp on roads/easy trails. So flexibility and core strength become more and more important as I get older. No surprises there.
Medium term I'd like to work towards a good performance at the Stockholm district champs at the end of the Summer. No fussy training plan, just keep things varied and increase the hours gradually if possible.
