Orienteering race (Forest) 47:30 [4] ***** 5.7 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: inov-8 oroc 280

Really nice forest today - was used for WOC in 95 apparently. In a similar part of town to the night champs, not quite as runnable but still very. Quite difficult sections of small hill tops where you had to stay in contact throughout the leg... which I didn't on a couple. Lost around 5mins and that would have been enough to be the fastest last leg time out of all 4 Ravinen H120 teams which would have been really nice.

Felt physically fine, able to push hard and still read the map so it seems that weird period is behind me now. Must have been fighting off an illness or something. Otherwise I still have a problem with my left achilles but it's not stopping me from training or competing. However, a little stretching to stop it from developing any further would probs be a good idea but I can't be arsed.

Orienteering (Forest) 45:00 [2] ****
shoes: adidas swoop 2 - 3rd pair

Collecting controls in after last night's district night champs. Nice terrain, ultra runnable. Felt good up until I was carrying 8 metal stakes.

Running (Road/XC) 26:45 [3] 6.2 km (4:19 / km)

Flaten loop. Ran this bit fairly hard then...

Running (Road/XC) 15:55 [2] 3.2 km (4:58 / km)

...took this bit a lot easier - no point wearing myself out for tomorrow, I am last leg for Ravinen 4 in the H120 class of the district relay champs so very, very important that I am fresh, hmm.

Orienteering race (Forest) 47:00 [4] ***** 5.7 km (8:15 / km)
shoes: adidas swoop 2 - 3rd pair

Thought I might actually write up some stuff on AP, seeing as it is my day off and I actually have some spare time and I'm also feeling slightly more optimistic about orienteering today.

This year hasn't been great for me, a seemingly endless streak of illness and slight injuries since the beginning of March. Over the last couple of months I've had no idea whether I would feel physically good or not when I raced. Felt great on day 6 in Scotland so it's nothing to do with being tired from too much running. The two weeks after Scotland I did a Wed lunchtime LL event and felt awesome both weeks yet at the bigger races at the weekends just felt rubbish, couldn't push and couldn't concentrate on the navigation after the first few controls either.

Last week things got better though. Not saying I had good runs technically (except maybe on Thursday evening where I only lost 3-4mins which is fantastic in comparison to all the other races) but at least I have felt physically good in every race, 6 in a row now :) and am enjoying running and finding controls in the really sexy forest terrain mcuh more as a result.

The Stockholm district champs races last weekend were enjoyable, on very runnable, easy nav areas (for Stockholm). I made approx 10mins of errors on the long and 7mins on the middle. Looking at the splits from the middle I had a good section over the last 5 controls and my positions were between 25th and 35th for those splits when I came 55th overall. So there is potential there but I need to really work on the technical side of my orienteering to iron out these big errors I am making. So without my mistakes I reckon I could have done 32mins but the race was won in 24mins! Just over 5mins/km! Sure I could lose some weight, train more and run clean but I will never be able to do that course in that time, simple as that.

Running (Road) 31:45 [2] 6.6 km (4:49 / km)
shoes: adidas cc ride

Session with Elisabeth running (almost) the route she will race in a couple of weeks time against her colleagues. First half quite easy (for me) and second half a bit more effort.
