Orienteering (Forest) 1:05:10 [2] *****
(injured) shoes: adidas swoop 2 - 3rd pair

Designed a course on my A2 Nacka map, then ran it putting training kites out for Elisabeth.

Time doesn't include what was spent hanging controls or eating berries.

Twisted my right ankle near the end, quite a nasty crunch. As bad as at 10mila last year in terms of how heavy I went over on it and similar in terms of how surprised I was I could still walk afterwards. I don't know whether to be happy or worried that I can't sprain my ankle any more. The ligaments on the outside must be so long by now that there's probs more risk of a dislocation than a sprain.

Probably could have run back but was sensible and walked. A day off tomorrow and then some regular surface running on Tuesday and it should be alright I reckon - not logging this as another injury. Can't help thinking that it might not have happened if I had been doing my balancing exercises. My log says none since February.

Edit - who am I kidding? Judging by how I was walking the next day my ankle is properly injured.

Orienteering (Forest) 15:30 [2] *****
shoes: adidas swoop 2 - 3rd pair

Went to Alby Friluftsgard with E & the kids, unfortunately too late for us to do much in terms of split start orienteering training in the gorgeous terrain.

The course I had planned b4hand on a 1:15000 map of the area was 9km and 13 controls. Managed 3 of them before it was time to get back for a quick swim and a BBQ before going home.

Felt a bit sluggish during the warm up but it got better. Can't see me doing that well at the six days this year, maybe on days 1 and 2 I will be strong but 3-4 hours a week average over the last couple of months just simply isn't enough for me to be feeling fresh on day 6. Foot still hurting too but I think a bit better each run.

It is now officially the 'food for free' time of year in the forests here and on the menu today was blueberries and strawberries, same as last week but more abundant and slightly riper. Didn't stop and munch for too long though, an army of shit sitters was swarming around my head if I stopped for more than a few seconds. Aw well, good with the bad.

Running hills (Road/XC) 1:36:50 [3] 17.0 km (5:42 / km) +930m 4:28 / km

Arsta forest hills route again, this time 4 lengths. Steady effort for the most but in length 3 the effort increased in order to maintain the same pace. Length 4 was tough but pushed harder to do only 5 secs slower than length 2 last Friday. Foot still a bit buggered, otherwise quite happy with that - good session.

1) 24:00
2) 24:40
3) 24:00
4) 24:10

Running (Road/XC/Terrain) 56:55 [3] 11.2 km (5:05 / km)

Usual Nacka route. Feeling good tonight and foot a bit better. These split times are bang on Nov 2009 PB pace...

1) 11:00
2) 22:50
3) 23:05

Not that I could have done the whole run at that pace but looking good for a PB attempt this Autumn.

Felt like I was actually attacking the Terminator split (3) for the first time this season. Ran the last flat, easy trail part of that at threshold in a time of 4:55 for 1.2km so 4:02/km.
