Orienteering race (Forest) 56:51 [4] **** 6.2 km (9:10 / km) +175m 8:02 / km

Cademan & Thringstone Woods. Was looking forward much more to the today bit of the weekend made even better when realising my previous visit to this area. Really enjoyed running here in 04 (regional I think?) got an M35 EOD and did ok. Pinball style technical course well can't say I never do this sorta stuff? Virtually clean thru first 6 then dropped two mins on 7 - thought was lost but actually was bang on a good plan that had forgotten - started thinking about mixed grills instead. Bit low on 10, dunno why splitsbrowser says lost time on 13 maybe took an unlucky line down the hill? Clean to 23 then took a tour thru the dark green. Twas a long tour, if a little boring. After being gently persuaded to change my initial due north strategy to due east found another couple of victims and knew I was close to an escape... but escape to where? A comedy 9:15 lost. Missed 28 running with AL thinking we were on a different path (he knew what he was doing) but got him back on the last.

Punched together and then caned it off towards the finish, lots of push and just as I expected any run-in confidence might have gained after the long was smashed to pieces by Tim slaughtering my time by 5 whole seconds. Were you hopping again? Which leg?

So with a couple of tiny adjustments could have had two virtually clean middle distances in as many weeks, in England. Still wudda only been 45:30 which is 3mins down on last year (and I had back ache then) both won in 35mins. So not good really.

Nottingham Uni. Can't really remember what happened except that I was really quite slow.

Orienteering race (Urban/Parkland) 21:04 [4]

Nottingham Uni. I can remember even less of the final (how the f did I squeeze into the B final? Obv an easy heat, again) cos I haven't got my map.

Canford Heath. Played around with speed a bit to see how fresh I am but mostly easy just to get me out of rest day mode. Calf is fine.

Cannop Ponds. In a world of Somerset related pain this morning so took some ibuprofen. Tried to keep up with Keith for the first few (one of which we got really quite lost on being very silly - 3:30) until he got lost all by himself. Was running with Joe Taunton (I think) on and off taking slightly diff routes. Didn't feel fast but didn't tire.

Woke up with some severe cramp in my left calf last night and it doesn't seem to have gone completely. Running was ok, maybe made it slightly worse. Lots of stretching/massage over the next couple of rest days.
