Orienteering race (Parkland/Forest) 2:11:59 [4] *** 18.9 km (6:59 / km) +390m 6:20 / km
spiked:28/30c

Ashton Court, Leigh Woods & Ashton Hill Plantation. Thanks to the fact that an ankle sprain for me nowadays means bruised bones more than ligament damage I went from not really being able to walk on Thursday back to o-ing again by Sunday. Had a couple of moments but nothing too painful. Two very small misses but then on piece of pi$$ areas like these anything more would be unforgivable. Got my oh CD head on and measured the course to see how accurate BOK were - only a km out. Distance run was a lot more however as most of the forested bits were full of crap. Coped with the length ok but slowed a little over the last half hour. Good elite classic training but then a little premature as I've just found out that we're not gonna be running one of those until the JK now.

Orienteering race (Forest/Heathland) 1:05:47 [4] *** 8.3 km (7:56 / km) +220m 7:00 / km
spiked:16/19c (injured)

Ash Ranges. Oops. Ran hard last night, stayed up too late, got up too early and was asking for it clumsily waddling thru the heather. Just like in February at Holmbury Hill where the events leading up to the race made me similarly tired I proper hurt myself - this time an ankle sprain - went over on it hard whilst going downhill and the crunch sounded really bad. Haven't done it like that for over two years. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it should so finished the race. Next morning couldn't put any pressure on it so lots of rice prescribed.

Running (Road/XC) 1:16:15 [3] 15.4 km (4:57 / km)

Across Downs - Ashton Court. Started well, got faster but chilled Winston at the end - partly cause I didn't want to over do it and partly cause I started creaking. No wonder really, it's been an age since I ran for this sorta duration non-o-ing style. I started looking back thru my log to work out exactly how long but got bored. I found a run on 1st Sept for just over an hour but it was quite slow - almost 5.5mins/km.
