Orienteering race (Fell) 1:55:00 [1] ** 6.6 km (17:25 / km) +465m 12:53 / km
spiked:3/3c

Back o' Skiddaw. After losing all our points yesterday we were obv completely out of the running so with Harold's run in New York next weekend and my week of cycling with Alan in mind we proper chilled and just took in a few controls on the way back to the event centre. An absolutely gorgeous day so a bit of a shame not to be out for the duration.

Orienteering race (Fell) 7:46:00 [2] ** 30.7 km (15:11 / km) +2340m 10:59 / km
spiked:13/14c

Back o' Skiddaw. RAB MM with Harold Wyber. The only non-spike was a 25 point control we decided to go out of our way for quite early on and altho the descr said path/road junction it also said large tree on branch E side as well. Alan said if I was experienced in D&W events I wudda known about that sorta foolishness. Anyway we only lost a couple of mins pi$$ing around but if we had done the same route without that control not only would we have got back on time but probs got another couple of controls on the way back and had 10 points more for our trouble. The difference between mine and Harold's fitness began to show after about 3 hours and by the end of it I was proper ruined so really it was down to me that we got back 45mins late and therefore lost all of our 400 points - gutted. On the plus side a really well planned score event and a mostly runnable area in combination with some good weather. The only really shite bit was contouring on the S side of Blencathra across Doddick Gill described by Wainwright as a route to commend heartily to one's worst enemy!

Cycling long (Road) 3:58:30 [2] 94.0 km (2:32 / km)

Redland - Bedminster - Wells - Cheddar - Chew Stoke - Long Ashton - Redland. Went out a bit earlier today and not thru the city centre so that Matt wouldn't moan so much about the traffic - didn't work. Fortunately by the time we were off the A37 and onto the A39 towards Wells the roads were clear and he was smiling again. Rather than go back the way we came we rode to Cheddar and up thru the Gorge (awesome climb!) at which point I proper hit the wall and we were quite a bit slower from there to home. Maybe I cudda pushed thru the tiredness but I had the RAB this weekend in mind and even walked up BVR near the end to be safe. Time includes some waiting.

Cycling (Road) 1:35:45 [3] 38.9 km (2:28 / km)

Redland - Chew Magna - Failand - Redland. Still a bit coughy but feeling much better so went out for a blast with Matt to do the A37/39 hills with him that I did on my lonesome last Monday. Matt wasn't having any of it tho as the traffic was pretty heavy so we turned off the A37 down into the Chew Valley. Time includes lots of waiting at lights.
