No Portway head-wind this time but a bit more traffic that slowed me down here and there esp on lap 4. The aim was to carry on until I slowed significantly. Job done. Lots of ice bottle massage and stretching b4 and after on the calf muscles.

Orienteering race (Moorland) 1:22:23 [4] **** 9.4 km (8:46 / km) +260m 7:42 / km
spiked:13/20c

Clydach Terrace. Ok so not the best. I would like to blame the mistakes today on not wearing my glasses or not having descriptions and having to fold unfold fold etc a soggy map but unfortunately most were down to something else I could control but chose not to bother. After Tuesday I just wanted it over with and it showed. Felt good today running uphill across the moor, blaster plisters lasted until 13.

I'll take it as a fairly solid comeback week with a fairly balanced 2 good, 2 average and 2 not so average performances. 8/23 overall.

Strength Training (Barbell) 18:00 [1]
weight:87kg

Decided to go down the gym for once. Did some up fast down slow wide grip max strength stuff on the chest, back and shoulders after calf/glute SMR work on the kettle ball and some stretching. Not anywhere near as good as with my ice bottle.

3*5...

DP - 20/40/60kg
BOR - 20/30/40kg+bar
UC - 20/30/40kg+bar (40kg a bit much)

Orienteering race (Moorland) 1:18:51 [4] *** 11.4 km (6:55 / km) +270m 6:11 / km
spiked:23/24c

Mynydd y Garn. Good run today but with such easy controls pretty much everyone had a good run so it was more down to well, running. Again like yesterday although a bit sore afterwards I'm getting no pain in the ankle joint during. Slightly disappointing not to have a 100% spike rate - made a silly mistake near the end. A clean run and I would be close to 1min/km down on Nick - a speed I would be happy with on a course/area like this.

Tried some Tesco's own blister plasters (the cheap option - only £2) and they worked pretty welll until 9 where the right heel one rubbed off.

Orienteering race (Forest) 1:26:07 [4] *** 10.3 km (8:22 / km) +475m 6:48 / km
spiked:22/27c

Wentwood West. Was quite looking forward to this being the only forested day in the schedule and was feeling fresh jogging to aa/start with a really good wankle. Had continued with the 3 times a day SMR and stretching routine that worked so well for me in Sweden but now with a frozen bottle of water instead of the mini rugby ball. Got the tip off comments on Ali C's log - cheers for that. Had a fair run today spoiled only by a proper blunder on 26 costing 4mins. Had lost a bit of time running to 14 on the way to 4 and misses/hesitation on 5, 6 and 25 costing another maybe 3mins.

Felt like I was running again today, haven't felt like this since the Jukola. No pain whatsoever in the ankle joint but pain from blisters only just bearable under normal plasters.

Orienteering race (Moorland) 1:21:55 [4] **** 10.1 km (8:07 / km) +240m 7:15 / km
spiked:15/23c

Pwll du. Third time been to here and it wasn't my best. The weather was poo and was wiping my glasses like every 5mins. Made several small errors and felt tired too altho ankle was feeling almost normal. Unfortunately my reserve Walshes gave me blisters just like I knew they would so the pain levels weren't really any different.

Orienteering race (Moorland) 1:27:30 [4] **** 9.1 km (9:37 / km) +245m 8:28 / km
spiked:16/19c

Blorenge. After yesterdays problems I massaged, stretched and iced myself to bits in an attempt to get rid of this ankle pain whilst running. It worked. I knew instantly on the way to 1 that there was less pain running in the terrain. Sweet. Regardless of the devoid of bracken/tossuck ultra-runnable terrain (not a lot) I had a smile on my face all way round. Lost approx 4mins on missing 2, hesitant b4 3 and well missing 4.
